There is only one thing Trump wants from Venesuela. OIL. There is no interest in the Trump Administration about restoring "Democracy' in Venesuela. Now Trump is saying that Venesuela is going to "turn over" 30-50 million barrels of oil to the United States.

Not one word about allowing the people of Veneusela freedom and liberty. Not one word about new elections.
It is all about the oil. Period.
Freedom, liberty, democracy... Trump wants nothing to do with that. What the United States of America has stood for for 250 years.
Now this Cuban agent, Delcy Rodrigeuz is sworn in as the new Venesuelan president. Moduro selected her, no one elected her, no one voted for her. And Trump has signalled that Rodriguez could face dire consequences should she buck US priorities for Venezuela.
Guess who was at her swearing-in? The Ambassadors of Red China, Russia, India, Iran. Nobody from the United States..
Guess what, the Venesuelan armed forces now are mobilized. They aren't going to be caught off-guard if Trump sends Delfa Force in again to take her out of she doesn't play ball with him.

It is also clear why Trump doesn't want Maria Corina Machado, the Venesuelan opposition leader as the new Venesuelan president.. You know, the one the people actually voted for but Madduro did not want to accept the election ?
She won the Nobel Peace Prize. Not Donald Trump.
It should also be noted that the large US energy companies have stated it would take about a decade for the US to rebuild the oil production capability of Venesuela. About 40-60 billion dollars over the next 10 years for them to be able to restore the infastructure and be profitable. They are reluctant to do this because Trump only has 3 years left in office and it is unclear who will win the 2028 election, and also it is unknown who will be in power in Venesuela in 2028 once Trump is out of office.
In other words, they are reluctant to play ball with Trump because Trump is not making good buisness sense in all this.
But then, Trump has gone bankrupt six times in buisness.
All this going on right now is what Trump wants. What MAGA wants. It is very unclear if this is what Americans want to be known for. Siezing other nation's wealth ?
You know, that pesky freedom, liberty and democracy thing which we stood for 250 years ?
That's what I believed the United States of America stood for growing up. The United States of Ronald Reagan, who told Gorbachev to "Tear down this wall" in 1987. And two years later the Berlin Wall came tumbling down and eventually so did communism, and millions of people had a chane to live in freedom and democracy.
But Reagan is dead. And so is that United States. Now we have Donald Trump who lives for the "deals" he makes to enrich the US with the national resources of other nations.

My wife and I were in Germany on vacation a few years ago. We went to a few places we knew from both of us being stationed there (it was West Germany then) in the 1970s while in the Air Force.
DeleteIn the summer of 1976, we went to then West Berlin on a trip and we passed through East Germany (the German Democratic Republic). We were restricted to staying on the Autobahn from Helmstedt at the West/East German border (known as Checkpoint Alpha at the time) and at the West Berlin city limits (known as Checkpoint Bravo then). We had to have special orders known as "Flag Orders" as they had an American Flag at the top of them in order to travel on the road in East Germany. At the checkpoints, a Russian officer looked at the orders, our military identification cards, and at us to verify our identites. He then stamped the orders and handed them back, never saying a word.
During our visit to West Berlin, we took the tour into East Berlin. We were required to wear our Air Force uniforms for this, as German citizens were not allowed to travel through the Berlin Wall. Again, at Checkpoint Charlie, the crossing point, a Russian officer checked our IDs and verified our identity before the bus was allowed to go through the wall into East Berlin.
In 1976 the difference between East Berlin and West Berlin was striking. West Berlin was a modern city, like other cities in West Germany. East Berlin was still reparing damage from World War II. Lots of empty lots where rubble was removed; lots of government buildings... and lots of concrete. Gray concrete.
That was the color of communism. It wasn't Red. It was Gray.
When we crossed back into West Berlin, it was returning to the Germany we lived in at the time. Restraunts, stores, shopping, the frangrance of bratwursts....
On our visit in the early 2000s, we also went to Berlin. It was just Berlin. No west or east any longer. At Helmstedt, there was no "Checkpoint Alpha" any longer, the watchtowers and the border fence between the two parts of Germany was gone. We could even stop at the rest stops on the Autobahn, something we could not do in our 1976 trip to West Berlin.
In Berlin, yes they maintain Checkpoint Charlie as a memorial, but there is no death strip, or minefield, or watch towers any longer where the Berlin Wall once stood. We walked through the Brandenburg Gate, which in 1976 was in the middle of the Berlin Wall and was inaccessable. The eastern part of Berlin looks pretty much like the western part now, lots of new buildings, SONY, Bayer.. In fact, you can't even tell where the Berlin Wall once stood. It's all town down and Germany, and Berlin are whole again.

I think from the actions of our dear prez that he would nuke one of our own cities if he thought it was needed to take away attention from his name in the files.
