Rainy Morning Chronicle: DeSantis Wins Debate Show

Rainy Morning Chronicle: DeSantis Wins Debate Show: Trump wasn't at the debate Wednesday night, but MAGA was in the audience.  Their boos and jeers seem to have affected the pundit/analyst...

  1. DeSantis did fine, although I don’t know if there was a clear winner with so many on the debate stage.

While I don’t prefer many of them, and others clearly don’t have a chance of winning, all I could think of during the debate was that they are all more qualified for the job and better for the country than Joe Biden and the democrat policies he’s put into place.

  3. I didn’t watch the FOX “debate” show. I did watch the Trump interview with Tucker Carlson. None of the candidates included on the FOX program are as capable of fixing this nation’s decline as Trump will be. Not even close!

As for the Morning Call, look closely at Page 2 and the listing of subscription pricing. Unless it’s a huge misprint that’s been running all week, a one year, 7, day subscription is now priced at $2000.00

TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS per year !!! This subscriber for more than 50 years will NOT be re-subscribing. This is crazy town stuff.

    1. Democrat policies and the current president are so bad that they deserve to be soundly defeated. I voted for Trump twice, and will vote for him again if he is the nominee.

That said, I’m not sure that Trump can accomplish in his one remaining term what some of the other contenders could do more effectively.

Will Trump be able to assemble a good team for four years (at most) to accomplish the task? Most of the problems Trump had in his first term were with people who he either appointed or kept in their positions (Mattis, Barr, Wray, Fauci, etc.).

Trump didn’t prove to be the master evaluator of talent that many thought he was. Being President isn’t the same as hosting a reality show - you only have a few years to accomplish your goals and then you’re out. Constantly switching up your team reduces your chances to succeed.

While I think Trump was right on policy, he lost ground in execution. I would also have preferred that his focus since leaving office would have been how to improve on his shortcomings and hitting the ground running (on policy) if he wins again, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I think DeSantis remains the better choice, but again, ANY republican candidate is still far above Biden and the destructive policies of the democrats.

  4. anon@8:57: Your news input is apparently very limited, demonstrated by thinking that any newspaper subscription could possibly be $2000. On the same note, you missed an opportunity to learn about your options. Trump hasn't said anything new since Jan. 6, 2021.

  5. Unfortunately, anon @8:57 is not wrong, if you get the newspaper delivered 7 days a week it is $960 for 24 weeks, which is $40/week, times 52 weeks is $2080...and it gets better...they can also include up to 12 "Premium" issues (one of which is just a book of puzzles) and they charge you an additional fee up to $9.99 for those editions, whether you want them or not

    1. For anyone still subscribing to the Call that doesn't want to totally get rid of it, I'd recommend this:

Cancel your subscription (or let it expire) and tell them it's too expensive. In a short time, you will receive an offer for a better rate, or eventually be eligible to be treated as a new subscriber and get that sweetheart rate (waiting for that rate is better).

There is no real reason to continue subscribing to the Call, but if you can't make the break from it there is certainly no excuse to be paying full price.

Either way, the hope is that reducing their revenue will eventually force them to return to at least a charade of balance in their coverage.

  6. Of course none of them talked about the huge elephant in the room - election fraud.

No matter whom the GOP nominates, the paper mail-in ballots and mechanical vote counting will insure Biden or whomever the Dems nominate will win.

    Beware of the "Long Count"

  7. Sorry to inject reality, but, to independents and persuadable Democrats & Republicians, the debate was a S-T SHOW! Six clowns and two non entities do not compel them to vote for the Republician ticket next year. To win Wisconsin & Penna. will be a necessity for the party to win the presidency and no one showed last night they could do so. DeSantis was so ineffective that not one person on the stage even bothered to attack him! Instead, they all attacked the Trump surgate, Ramasamy. Once the religious right find out that he does not worship a Jesus that looks like Brad Pitt (of course, the actual historical Jesus, a Jew from Galiee, looked more like Yassir Afarat) but the elephant faced Hindu god Ganesh, he will sink like a stone. Hailey seemed to be the only adult in the room, but, Trump will never select a VP that demonstrates intelligence, so she can only hope for a cabinet position. If Trump is pressured to select a VP from last night, it will be the hapless bumpkin from South Dakota.

    1. I suspect that anon 2:42 is neither an independent, or a persuadable democrat or republican, and is in-fact a democrat troll.

I don’t wouldn’t want over half of those on the debate stage last night as the eventual republican nominee, but ALL are better than the real “S-T SHOW” Biden and the democrats have given us.

  8. Anon@2:42: I believe that Haley is correct that Trump cannot win. Therefore, if a Republican is going to prevail in 24, that victor must come from that stage last night. I believe that DeSantis is the most marketable.

  9. DeSantis is too much beholden to the multi-billionaire globalists, the George Bush family, and actually, is no longer well-liked in Florida. His national approval ratings have even fallen mightily with Republicans.

    1. Actually, DeSantis’ approval numbers are higher than Trump’s and I suspect that any of those polls that show him falling “mightily” are conducted by rival Republican candidates (and democrats) to fit their narrative.

As to being beholden to anyone, he seems to run Florida based on what he thinks is the right thing to do, even if it upsets some of the big money interests in that state.

He also has a record of success both in policy and assembling a qualified team to implement his agenda, the latter being something that is vital for the next President to have on Day 1.
