Trump's threat to use tariffs against countries which do not support his grab for Greenland is a threat too far. In a recent post I wrote that his political support in the country is crumbling fast. This latest threat will likewise erode his international influence. He, and consequently we, are being taken less seriously everyday.
Thank goodness for the midterms. By November any member of Congress wanting to be re-elected will have to speak out against this would be king. For my vote they would have to have spoken out much earlier.
I don't know what kind of psychiatric department Walter Reed has, but it will be in the news soon, because their Commander and Chief is quickly losing it. Yesterday he told the world that because he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize, he doesn't have to behave.

Yawn
ReplyDeleteanon@12:28: you can yawn all you want, but unless Mackenzie cuts bait with Trump, very soonly, he won't have to travel to DC in 2027.
ReplyDeleteCongress it seems is frozen in anxiety, they don't know how to react or make any decisions. I expect a new congress will not be any better, just fall back on the impeachment trip. Face it folks, you are going to be on your own, you better suck it up and prepare for the worst. There is no one coming to the rescue.
ReplyDeletePlease, Ray, Congressional approval ratings have been buried deep in the basement for years and years.
DeleteWake me and smell the coffee.
Mike wait till he goes to DAVOS and shuts down the NWO leaders again pushing there agenda of one world government. These humans are not gods and when Jesus returns there will be a government like nothing we have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteYou should be fearing the midterms, Mike. With the way democrats are conducting themselves leading up to this election, the shellacking they receive is gonna be epic!
ReplyDeleteWell....he did stop "8 wars"! I wouldn't worry about the additional tariff threats to our NATO allies, this has TACO written all over it.
ReplyDeleteTrump is TACO with regards to the Russians. Putin is his friend
DeleteNATO is a joke..just wait until Trump's Board of Peace gets up and running...those countries will all want to pay the $1 billion to join up.
ReplyDeleteGiven Trumps threats against our European alllies, I doubt anyone would want to join a 'board of peace' with him on it
DeleteMaybe Obama could convene a Board of Peace?
DeleteNATO has a proxy war to wage against Russia and that requires a whole lot of effort.
Deleteanon@6:46: I'm not a Democrat, so I'm not "fearing". Everyone projects that the Dems will do well, the only question is how large the wave will be?
ReplyDeleteanon@7:59: I'm hoping that he can get it implemented for Gaza. Any success beyond that would surprise me.
MM isn’t a Democrat, he just shills for them on a regular basis.
DeleteTrump must win a prize for being the most uninformed world leader. A temper tantrum delivered to a government that doesn’t give out the awards…? I’m actually surprised that none of his staffers were able to save him from this embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteTrump has a string of losses/wins that proves that he is both a bumbling idiot and a machiavellian genius who is bent on global domination simultaneously.
DeleteHe must be stopped.
Thank God for Gavin Newsom, the great white hope.
Trump is the most useless and ineffectual President to have the same outsized influence on American politics and culture as FDR.
DeleteFunny how Trump occupies so much bandwidth in people’s minds.
@11:11am
DeletePerhaps you could offer something substantial to the dialogue?
Off topic, but I just wanted to note that Allentown hasn’t cleared the bike lanes on most city roads yet. In fact, it seems that in many places they’ve plowed snow from the middle of the roads INTO the bike lanes.
ReplyDeleteHow am I supposed to get to work this week, if the city isn’t clearing the bike lanes? I know the Mayor is concerned about safety, and right now things are dangerous.
Maybe they could just make the bike lanes wider by banning cars and trucks on the roads so I could get where I need to go. That would be a better solution than what we have now.
A lot of progressive liberal municipalities leave snow in the designated bike lanes, it’s a proven strategy for traffic calming.
DeleteFurther bike lane comments will not appear
DeleteNeed to just put chains on those bikes.
DeleteMore off topic... I went thru several little "Podunk" towns early AM Monday and the roads were clear curb to curb!!!! The roadways were also clear. So WHAT'S THE PROBLEM in Allentown?????
Deleteanon@3:12: In a city with so many parked cars, you cannot plow curb to curb.
DeleteWhy can’t you plow curb-to-curb? They have year round street cleaning in much of the city so they can fund the parking authority.
DeleteWouldn’t it be something if instead of stopping the street cleaning after snow storms they would have residents on those routes move their cars so the city could plow to the curb and remove the snow they plow? At least then the streets would get plowed curb to curb once a week.
Not sure if you’ve been in the city over the last few days, but this is one of the worst jobs of plowing I’ve ever seen. Plowed snow has either been left at intersections (in the street) or plowed into the sidewalks.
If they don’t start removing it soon, they’re going to have a heck of a problem if we get more snow on the weekend.
Please MM, certainly you remember Hamilton St. being plowed curb to curb.
Deleteanon@8:15: I remember starting with Hamilton, then Linden, then Turner, then Chew et. But, it was after multiple snows with just nowhere to go with it. By then the street cleaning restrictions are over for the winter, so the streets must first be posted a couple days before they can start towing cars to begin a curb to curb. The snow must be then be trucked away and disposed. Sometimes dumped into the Jordan, sometimes piled on Union Terrace baseball field. Disposal always a problem.
DeleteTrump, love him or hate him, has accomplished more in the first year of his second term than any president in the post-war era.

adams@2:12: besides closing the border, he has IMO caused more damage than good.
ReplyDelete1. Musk's DOGE was indiscriminate
2. ICE started out ignoring due process, and graduated into gestapo
3. only the IA buildout saved the economy from his haphazard tariff damage.
4. We're back to colonialism and we're disrespecting our treaties.
Gas is $2.79 in rural S.W. Florida but I’m headed to a Pennsylvania where global warming is causing havoc.
