Hispanics Speak Out In Miami

Post graduates students of this blog know that in addition to my Allentown base, I rent a small, low rent office inland from Cape Canaveral. While my desk shakes when the Brightline Death Train roars by, I can see the endless rockets take off from the Cape.

For Florida news, I have secured the services of a retiree on the west coast, and a college student in Miami. The Miami intern reports about the message sent Trump and the Republicans with the recent mayoral election there.

A Democrat won for the first time in thirty years, and with a large majority. While the Hispanic community is mostly Republican, and advocates for legal immigration, it is alarmed by the gestapo actions of ICE. The other issue propelling the Democrat's win was affordability. Trump can tell those geniuses with the red hats at his rallies that affordability is a Democratic myth, but that won't help any Republican get re-elected. Keep in mind that Miami was Trump country, where he plans on building his presidential library.

  1. Trump won’t be running for president again. He’s been prosecuted, indicted numerous times, at least two attempts have been made on his life, one of which came a millimeter or so from killing him. He’s been impeached twice, elected by the American people twice, made some ridiculous comments, advanced some questionable policies along with some excellent ones. Did a phenomenal job along the border, advocated for provocative economic foreign policies, ended the Iranian nuclear program and a half of a dozen other foreign conflicts. Brokered a tentative ceasefire in Gaza. Reduced drug running on the high seas. Gotten dicks out of girls locker rooms and women’s sports. Make himself look like a goofball, a diplomat and has largely proven himself to be the most consequential POTUS in our lifetime.
    Period.
Neither party has a solution for the nation’s medical crisis.
Both play shameful politics with the issue.
He’s erased Oboma’s legacy, with huge assistance from President Biden, and will be judged alongside the giants like FDR, like him or not.
It’s difficult to focus on anything at the moment in light of the massacre in Australia but in time we must.
Trump has mercifully hobbled the pernicious woke juggernaut.
Vance and Newson, Rubio and Harris are looming in our rear view mirrors, accelerating quickly.
However history judges Trump will be debating long pass our lifetimes.
Trump took Pennsylvania and every other battleground state. In the area of Florida where I’m spending the winter he is immensely popular.
I can’t comment on MAGA, I have never even been a Republican.
    I’m registered Independent.
I do like the idea of America being a great country. I identify as something of a populist and as a member of the working class with a personal history largely rooted in what was once referred to as the “left”, although I have no idea what that term means today and have no interest in it’s current ideology.
Sure, I’ve got mixed feelings about Trump but no regrets about having voted for him given the circumstances and the alternatives.
I’m trying to watch less corporate MSM and read more again.
    God bless America.
    Happy Hanukkah.
A peaceful and merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night, especially you and yours, MM.
You remain a hero of the people.

  2. adams@1:39: As an forever conservative, and a forever blogger, much of my audience was Republican. Although I credit Trump for the day one border closings, my issues concern day two and since. My issues with Trump concern his cabinet.
Contrary to local complaints, most of my posts have remained local...last time I checked Mackenzie was our local congressman. While my audience is partisan, I have always been an independent, criticizing members of either party as I deem appropriate.
On the topic of "appropriate", I'm removing the link to a local blog. I've always blogged under my name, and have never even commented anywhere anonymously. Over the years my honestly has sometimes been "rewarded" with insults, but for me it's a source of pride. In my narrow view, if someone is going to write anonymously, it doesn't relieve them of the responsibility for their words and the words of they comments they host.
    Your readership is appreciated.

    1. Sticking with the topic of appropriate, I have generally found your posts to be so. I am appreciative that you removed a link you initially promoted because the blogger masqueraded as a promoter of interest and concern for the city but has revealed himself as an offensive hack whose only interest is attacking the mayor and his cabinet. His readership is as base and disgusting as he has shown hi m self to be. Plus, his grammar and punctuation is lame.

    2. anon@7:25: I believe Allentown (or anytown) can use tough scrutiny, but yes, the blogger should exercise more restraint with his words, and likewise employ more comment moderation.

  3. I’m far too concerned about the good ship Allentown and Lehigh County sinking with two incompetent fruit cakes at the helm to have any additional energy left over to worry about an empty suit congress person.
What the hey, we survived the vacuous Susan Wild.

  4. Self inflicted wounds are the cause of this. Trump's bad decisions on major policy issues go against many conservatives who elected him and supported him in the past.

The Democrats have gone off the deep end. No one is listening to them except themselves

If Trump wants to turn his Titanic around he still has time. Otherwise he is reaping the whirlwind he sowed for himself. And taking the Republican Party down with him.

    1. Vance or Rubio will coast to victory against Newsom or whatever nut case the wacky woke Democrat party elites pick out.
I don’t blame you for not wanting to discuss the delusional, woke, Dems.
Trump is the most consequential President in our lifetime.
Trump has realigned the GOP to become the party of working class Americans.

    2. @1:13 Rubio either will be fired or soon resign. You can see it in his eyes. He is tried of Trump

Trump trusts a strip mall developer from Brooklyn using a Russian translator from the FSB to carry out his foreign policy befriending Putin. Wytcoff admits he knows nothing about Russia but he's Trump's main 'negotiator' with Putin. And his Trump uses his son-in-law to work out the buisness deals in the same room with Witkoff selling out the Ukrainian people to a dictator.

I'm not supporting that. And neither are the American peopole. Nor are they supporting his isolationist policies of a trade war with our friends and allies over the past 80 years. Or Trump's policy of considering our NATO allies enemies. What kind of horses**t is that?

J D Vance is Trump's attack poodle. The professionals he had in his first administration like Mike Pompeo and Mike Pence are long gone. We are stuck with people like Hegseth and the other syncopants in his cabinet instead.

Trump wanted yes men in his cabinet like he's used to in the board room of the Trump Corporation. Not with anyone who would challenge him on his policies.

I voted for Trump three times as a Republican. I'm sitting out this congressional election. There are some local and state canidites who are Repblicans I will support. But not for any canidate that supports Donald Trump.

  5. Brent@12:36: He doesn't care about the Republican Party per se, just his own legacy. If the midterm Blue Tide is big enough that he can no longer pass his agenda, he won't even campaign for Republicans in 28. His statements are becoming more bizarre... his mental condition is deteriorating.

  6. The Republican Party has never been more popular with Black Americans and Latino voters than it is today. Trump is sharp as a tack compared to Old Joe from Scranton.

  7. Something that Trump and his family overlook is that many Republicans don’t vote for Republicans, and that affordability isn’t a hoax by any political party. Locally Mackenzie really shouldn’t get too comfortable, he hasn’t even achieved paper tiger status yet.

  8. anon@1:03: Nobody is comparing Trump to Biden, only Trump to Trump, and he's deteriorating, quickly. His statements are getting more bizarre everyday.

As my post points out, he's not popular with the Latinos in Miami. I think the actions of ICE has killed any support from that demographic.

  9. Brent@2:10: Vance is coming to the valley tomorrow to indirectly campaign for Mackenzie. Poor Mackenzie is doomed with the administration if he doesn't stand on the stage, and doomed with the public if he does.

  10. About two dozen Republicans in Congress are snakes. They don't deserve Trump's endorsement. These snakes are working together with Democrats to delay and put roadblocks in the front of Trump's plans. Gutless, weak pretenders. Maybe they're hiding some things?

    1. Clearly, these "snakes" must be "The Enemy Within" that we are hearing about from MAGA. Conservatives who actually are working with Democrats to try and make the United States great again, finding middle ground they can agree on. Things that used to happen like under Ronald Reagan before the extremists took over on either side.

  11. anon@3:09: I think that there will be a lot more snakes after the midterms, when more Republicans will stand up. Who knows, these snakes may even resort to posting anonymously :)
