On Monday afternoon, President Trump said I got to witness the greatest accomplishment in civilization. Well maybe, if Hamas accepts the deal, it is an accomplishment. Greatest in history? That statement is one for psychology, not history.
Netanyahu said that if they didn't do it the easy way, they would have to do it the hard way. What was hard was watching them say so little, with so much pomp. I hope that for the hostages and the Palestinians, Hamas accepts the proposal, but my regard for both Trump and Netanyahu won't improve.
I think that Trump should say nothing without a teleprompter, not even hello or goodbye.

I actually thought it was well done. Trump seems to have had the Arab world lined up behind the agreement beforehand and dragged Netanyahu along for the ride. He’s also given the people in Gaza a reason for hope in something besides Hamas.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know what else you do when you have two sides that are still fighting and neither wants to stop. Personally, I’d just let the fighting continue. Wars end when one side wins.
I know Trump wants to stop the fighting, but this seems premature. We didn’t start reconstructing Germany until after the Germans were defeated. I’d do the same with Hamas.
Odd how no Arab country (save the ethnic Houthi, Shia Iranian proxies in the failed state of Yemen) or Gulf States wants anything whatsoever to do with HAMAS, The Islamic Jehad of Palestine or the rump Muslim Brotherhood.
ReplyDelete“From the river to the sea…”
ReplyDeleteThat had poor shelf life.
While it provided a prime time viewership, I doubt that much will change. Hamas, never that popular with other neighboring countries, has been successful in baiting Netanyahu to engaging in policies harmful to Israel. Israel is in a far more dangerous and unsustainable place than before the Oct event.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to say, I see no way out for any, Hamas will die to the last man, Israel already 2 years in to this is far more divided and economically and politically vulnerable.
We hear all the bragging about winning, I suspect this is far from over.
I doubt that Trump had much to do with this but he will put his name on almost anything. How I wish we had a president who wasn’t “branding” the world with his name but rather letting the USA have credit for work done. Oh boy, soon we can get all of our drugs through Trump Medical. It’s despicable. Such a childish ego.
ReplyDeleteWho precisely do you think had something to do “with this”?
DeleteTell us more.
Yet another wacky complaint about Trump. Sheesh!
DeleteLook, your President has been working very hard to end several killing wars around the world. Also to keep our own men and women from being sucked into those messy conflicts.
Presidents have staffs. Certainly you don’t think Trump pulls this stuff out of his head, do you? He would have had staff people working night and day to come up with this plan, and with Israel’s government and staff and European governments to come up with a presentable plan that he could read from a teleprompter. He can brand this shutdown as the “Trump shutdown.” I’m off to the golf course.
DeleteMike your TDS is very concerning to those who love you, would you consider inpatient therapy at Trump Doral they have a 60 day program that has cured Rosie O'Donnell and Keith Olbermann two of the worst cases known to man.
ReplyDeleteI am a registered republican and I am so tired of Trump and the party leaders telling me to hate my neighbors (as they did at yesterday’s military rally). This proposal seems somewhat thoughtful and perhaps somewhat hopeful.

DeleteCool.
You can keep replaying Joe Biden’s address at Independence Hall.
12:23 - Nobody is telling you to hate your neighbors.
DeleteBut there is a small percentage of people in this country who believe that violence is acceptable (for whatever reason), and that it should be tolerated.
It should not be, and I applaud the President for addressing the issue.
