A MAGA man was arrested at the Wilkes-Barre No Kings Rally for brandishing a handgun at protesters. MAGA man spent the night in jail. On my post about the rally in Allentown, I referred to hundreds of protesters. I knew from the media coverage that there were thousands, but thought I could spare the dialogue a number counting debate. Regardless, someone sent in multiple comments that there should be permits, and that Cedar Crest Blvd. is too dangerous of a location. I suspect that for a pro Trump rally, they would find it to be safe enough.
I expect today to receive comments that my MAGA Man characterization is derogatory. Truth be told, I find current administration supporters to be in one of two camps. Either they are a MAGA Trump cultist, or a partisan, happy that they are in charge. I'm afraid for the Republicans that the cultists didn't vote before, and won't again. They voted for Trump, not the party.
I'm getting more and more comments about commenting. Either I don't print enough and I'm censoring, or I'm not enforcing previously stated comment guidelines. I confess to having an inconsistent policy, and being affected by the amount of sugar in my breakfast that morning.
I'm not here to be polite or popular

You’re not here to be polite,
ReplyDeleteneither are you here to be accurate or factual. Granted, you make no claim or commitment to accuracy or objectively.
It’s certainly your space to advance any notion you fancy or narrative you please to amuse yourself or your target audience.
It’s intriguing to observe and to be given the opportunity to weigh in on occasion.
Thank you, and good morning sir.
anon@1:10: I would think that most posts and comments on politics are opinion, rather than "facts". I suppose the most we can do toward credibility is sign our name. Michael Molovinsky
DeletePresident Trump is receiving significant pushback on his domestic ajenda. His governing by Executive Orders; his crackdown on illegal aliens, his use of National Guard troops in urban areas.
ReplyDeleteThis does not include his foreign policy and his soft line on Russia, as Vlaimir Putin kills innocent civilians every night by his drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's cities. Even Meliana is upset about Putin's kidnapping of Ukranian children and taking them to Russia to be "Russiafied'.
The Republicans hold thin majorities in both the House and Senate in Congress. Those Republicans who run on Trump's policies may be in for significant opposition.
I’m the one who commented about safety on the previous post, and that there should be permits required for protests along Cedar Crest Boulevard. I find your attempt to minimize and politicize an obvious safety issue appalling, and sad sign of where things are at right now as far as common sense.
ReplyDeleteRequiring permits is not limiting free speech. It allows municipalities to know what to expect ahead of time and to schedule adequate resources (police, Fire, ambulance) to be available to protect the public (in this case both protesters and travelers).
Please go back and look at the photo that accompanied your previous post. There is no sidewalk and little to no shoulder at the protest site. Some of the protesters are actually across the white line and standing in the roadway. In addition, others are holding flags and signs over into the roadway. That road is traveled by cars, buses and trucks (some carrying oversized loads) and the protest site is probably only a quarter mile from the interstate.
It is unsafe to have people standing in or adjacent to an active roadway, especially a high speed one. We should ALL be able to agree on THAT.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a No Kings Rally, a Trump rally, or anything else. It’s not safe, and it’s an accident waiting to happen.
As I noted on the previous post, if the protests need to be moved in the name of safety, move them. If the solution is to close the road while the protest is going on, close the road. If there is another solution, find it. But the current situation cannot and should not continue.
anon@1:51: In all the rallies all over, I heard of no traffic incidents. Actually, unfortunately, sometimes vehicles are used as weapons against protests. At any rate, your opinion on this topic is again noted...no repeat necessary.
DeleteBrent@1:23: The Republicans in purple states certainly won't run on Trump's policies, but they don't have the courage to stand up now.
ReplyDeleteAs near as I can figure, your obsession with defeating Trump has 2 objectives. Taking into account Trump is NOT a candidate for re-election anyway.
Delete1. You hope the upcoming Midterm elections lead to the Democrat Party super majority in both the House and Senate making an Impeachment/Early Removal from office possible.
2. Your ego makes it necessary for you to return here with a "See, I told you so" topic at some future date.
George Clark
Trump has already been impeached twice, had two attempts made on on his life, been prosecuted by a posse of politician hacks, slandered, made the object of an giant absurd RUSSIA RUSSIA, dogged by the FBI and had the Southern District of New York and a legion of journalists and reporters comb through his every tax return, local State and Federal.
DeleteTDS is a terrible way to lose one’s mind.
@8:20 Midterm Congressional Elections have for many years been seen as public reforendums on Presidents.
DeleteFor example, in 1934, after his record landslide victory over Herbert Hoover in 1932, the Democrats gained seats in the House after Roosevelt's New Deal policies were passed.
Since that time, in the off year Congressional elections, the party in the White House has either maintained, gained or lost seats based on public perception of their policies. Even in 1986, even after Reagan's lanslide victory in 84, his policies led to the Republicans losing House seats.
Trump right now has a 37% approval rate in the polls
“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters.“ Of course Trump voters have been empowered by his suggested violence and his pardons to January 6th participants and other obvious maga folks, right down to George Soros, who always voted Republican. This guy will get off with less than a hand-slap.
ReplyDeleteTrump was shot a few millimeters away from the great beyond and a second attempt was made on his life. The most prominent young MAGA proponent was executed for the world to see, or am I misremembering something?
DeleteHow many murders in the Windy City in the last 30 days?
Yeah, the Capital rally was ugly.
How many American cities were set on fire during the Days of Floyd riots?
What was the total $$$ in destruction? How many were killed or injured?
Inquiring minds want to know.
George Soros has always been a registered Democrat and a major contributor to the Democratic Party since becoming an American citizen.
DeleteHeroic displays of ignorance, or outright duplicity, doesn’t effectively advance one’s agenda.
ANTIFA is going to be designated a foreign terrorist org, this gentleman was defending our great nation against an invading ideology his golf cart could use a cattle guard with some. Bayonet welded forward , Uhuru!
ReplyDeleteMAGA man was rightfully in fear of his life have you ever seen a horde of ANTIFA miscreants replete with transvestites, drunks, druggies, and beardos it's utterly frightening they holler and gesticulate in a violent manner it's feral behavior
ReplyDeleteYeah, those riots with the burning looting and mass vandalism immediately post-Floyd were bone ass ugly stuff. It was one dangerous
Deletespasm of mass destruction.
The fact that the mob was full of freak show type thugs might have been humorous under other circumstances.
The age of wokeness had begun.
Although I printed the above comment(s), I'm not printing all the other comments about racial riots and Antifa. MAGA MAN was there to agitate, intimidate and harass.
DeleteI am convinced there is an ongoing attempt to overthrow our American Constitutional Republic. The system that has served us well for nearly 250 years.
DeleteSo, who is the enemy here? I suggest the coup has been led in America by elected members of BOTH major political parties and the heads of agencies they created with like-minded co-conspirators. These malcontents have been making serious money outside their regular government salaries through insider stock trading, mismanaged campaign funding, ghost written book deal advances, etc. Trump is seen as a threat to the continuation of all of these lucrative schemes.
Removing Trump or, at least, slowing Trump down is the goal of the coup plotters. The man is being forced to work under extremely perilous conditions.
As a taxpayer, I really want to see Trump win this battle. If he does succeed, we ALL win, including you, Mr. Molovinsky!
anon@154: There is certainly plenty of insider trading. Congress members always seem to get wealthy. However, Trump isn't your savior. On the contrary, I never heard of previous presidents cashing in as much as him. He's made more on the crypto currency in 8 months than other presidents combined. His extended family is also setting records. I credit him with closing the border and the return of the final living hostages from Gaza. The demerit list is considerably longer.
Deletegetting comments on how much this or that Dem left office with. None will be printed. It is chump change compared to your man, who has only been in this time for 9months.
DeleteI hear you Mike, but I believe your interpretation of the jeopardy America finds itself in is misguided. Donald Trump is NOT the problem.
DeleteWe have a federal government spending itself into financial ruin. We have vastly too many government employees to pay. We have foreign nations ripping us off on trade. We have been given a wide open borders condition that has flooded our cities with illegal non-citizens.
Further, we suffer from an entrenched Deep State that bends the rules, breaks laws, in favor of strengthening its own power. Other nations are flooding our country with deadly drugs killing our people. We have too many people on government financial assistance. We spend too much on foreign aid, we have a crime problem in our major cities, and the list goes on. . .
Donald Trump is making progress in fixing many of the issues I list. If, for some reason, Trump doesn't get to continue his term I'm afraid all the progress I see will come to a halt and this nation goes right back to it's foolish ways.
In this regard, Trump is a solution, not a cause.
Donald Trump's multiple billions of personal wealth, and his multi-millionaire children did not get their wealth from me. They earned it, or were wise enough to invest their wealth in sometimes risky ventures with big potential payouts. I'm not jealous of that.
MAGA? Yes, I'm MAGA all the way. Keep it coming!
anon@6:57: I ask that no one else submit such a comment, because you couldn't believe in the kool-aid more than this gentleman. Likewise, I still receiving but not printing comments on how much certain Dems have profited from their offices.
