My military experience is limited to having ridden past Quantico a few times on the train. However, the President addressing all the assembled generals has no more experience than me. He didn't even understand why they didn't laugh at his jokes. He doesn't understand that they are supposed to be apolitical. When he suggests that they practice warfare on civilians in our cities, he demonstrates a dangerous kindergarten comprehension of our government.
I doubt that even many Republican veterans could appreciate the reason for the conclave assembled at Quantico. It could not have been more ill advised from any viewpoint.
Fortunately for us, we have a very disciplined military. I expect the fallout will be limited to eye rolling. They knew Trump is a moron, and now they know the same about Hegseth. Hegseth said that generals who do not agree with his agenda should resign. Most of those generals earned their stripes the hard, long way, and know that the constitution will hopefully improve the current situation in another three and a half years.

Lots to unpack here. But, I just won't.
ReplyDeleteRecruitment is up.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is that Trump's Executive Order changing the name of the Department of Defense to the "Department of War" is invalid.
ReplyDeleteThe Department of Defense was established by Congress in the National Defense Act of 1947. It eliminated the former War Department.
A presidential Executive Order does not override a law passed by Contress. In order for Trump to rename the DoD as the Department of War, a law must be passed by the Congress to do so.
Frat boy Hegseth isn't the sharptest knife in the drawer anyway. He's Trump's "yes man" at the DoD. Now Hegseth was right in getting rid of fat boys and the hands in the pockets, and the beards. Proper decorum needs to be re-established and physical fitness is a must. The military used to discharge unfit people and I don't see anything wrong with that. Throwing out Rules of Engagement, however, is opening up our military to comitting war crimes.
Hegseth isn't the most moral man in the world, with his record of immoral actions, his three wives, and having children out of wedlock and the accusations of sexual battery against him.
Trump's statement about using the military against "the enemy within" and using our armed forces is simply chilling
Hate to tell you, but there really is an enemy within. Mostly referred to as the DEEP STATE, this bipartisan group of malcontents is doing everything possible to shove our Executive Branch of power.
DeleteThe Deep State is being aided and abetted by many within our FBI, CIA, and a compromised corporate news and entertainment complex working hard to convince the public everything is Trump's fault. Call this a soft attempt to overthrow America government.
Remember, our military was created to defend against all enemies foreign and domestic.
"Rules of Engagement" worked well in Vietnam didn't they Brent? Such inhumane restrictions protecting the North Vietnamese troops while contributing to the deaths of +58,000 young men and women lost. Maybe read a few of the many older books on this topic and get up to date.
Delete@8:00 Strict Rules of Engagement exist to prevent Platoon Leaders like Hegseth ordering more My Lai's.
Delete@anon 7:47 The leaders of the US Military will strongly resist any attempt by Trump or Hegseth to use them to arrest any US government official. Besides not having the authority to arrest civilians, military members have the duty to disobey any unlawful or immorial order.
DeleteIssuing any such illegal order to the military will also put Trump or Hegseth both in federal court charged with violating the Posse Comitatus Act, and also likely on trial in the Senate on impeachment charges.
@8:00
DeleteThe U.S. dropped approximately 7.5 million tons of bombs in S.E. Asia and defoliated huge swaths of the countryside.
Tell us more about restraint.
@12:35 PM.
DeleteThat's a lot of bombs and lots of our kids killed. Guess we were not the Superpower stature of the North Vietnamese. LBJ did give his best effort considering how many young men and women were slaughtered.
Are you auditioning for a new job?
ReplyDeleteI saw the other day that the cows on The View blasted Hegseth for rejecting the woke garbage of the last administration and took him to task for "fat-shaming" the troops. They couldn't understand why Hegseth is so "obsessed" with physical fitness for the military.
After seeing that, I was comforted that such stupidity seemed confined to the intellectually challenged "View".
I was wrong.
Yes, you were wrong.
DeleteMM continues to invest in virtue signaling, as to his motives we readers can only speculate.
ReplyDeleteHe's planning to run for dog catcher in Uber liberal woke utopia Whitehall Township
DeleteAmerica seems to be moving in the right direction, meanwhile, "ALLENTOWN" clearly isn't. Who presents a greater threat to those of us who actually live here, our own elected officials from Matt on down or Donald Trump? I think the answer to that is clear enough and may be expanded to a national scale. According to polling, America believes the The Democrats pose a greater threat to America than the Donald. Please note, you are free to criticize the president all you want, ridicule, impugn, and cast doubt about his policies and beliefs without being silenced. During the Biden Administration social media platforms warned and silenced myself and many other conservatives who were merely doing the same. The media companies have now come clean about it. They testified that they were pressured by the Biden Administration to do that and other forms of news suppression and censorship. Yeah...Trump's the problem?
ReplyDeleteWe are seeing a contrast here between well-read, informed citizens and the drive-by bomb throwers who have little else to contribute beyond juvenile name-calling and attempts to intimidate others.
DeleteQuick search on AI Google with statement: "According to polling, America believes the The Democrats pose a greater threat to America than the Donald." gave a reply of: "Based on recent polling, the statement that "America believes that The Democrats pose a greater threat to America than the Donald" is inaccurate. Polls on this topic vary significantly depending on the specific threat named and the political affiliation of the respondents. For many Americans, partisan polarization itself is considered a major threat to the country." So, that being said, is our president bringing us together?
DeleteGoogle AI? Really? You think that's credible? You think That's persuasive? Yeah...just as credible as their search engine. Funny.
DeleteMichael is going through a midlife crisis.
ReplyDeleteIt’s gonna be plays
Let’s not talk about drive-by shootings.
ReplyDeleteTrump is in line for a Nobel Peace Prize.
