No False Modesty For Trump At UN

Nobody will ever accuse Donald Trump of false modesty. In his typical kingly fashion, he let the United Nations know about all the wars he stopped. He was subdued about the wars he would supposedly end on day one, Gaza and Ukraine. There, he has emboldened Netanyahu and Putin to ratchet things up.

While he and MAGA continue their self congratulator interplay, the rest of the world is forced to be silent and polite. After all, the United States remains the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world, even if our current leadership is very quirky.

While we have had issues with the UN for decades, previous presidents had met the situation with attempts to gain better value for our investment, as opposed to Trump's dismissive and disruptive posturing.

    4. All because of me
    5 I'm right about everything

  2. The U.N. is doing great things to promote peace and stability in the world. Europe, for its part, has never been more fun and exciting in my lifetime.
    I don’t understand the negativity.:

  3. Just Trump being Trump. Been that way his entire life. Over decades he fought the cutthroat, ruthless business men all over the world. New York City can be a messy battleground.

You might not like his tactics and delivery, but the man's won nearly all of the battles he faced, and made himself one of the world's most successful international corporate achievers.

For Donald Trump, being the American President IS business.

Ask yourself, how many in that UN General Assembly look forward to facing Trump one on one? The man sets the stage. They all listen, and then proceed with caution.

    1. anon@7:12: enjoy your life in the cult, and you're correct that they proceed with caution, but out of fear of the buffoon, who happens to preside over the world's most powerful country.

    2. My life is going extremely well, thank you. I'm very results oriented. I remind you Trump is NOT running in the next election. You can be happy about that, at least.

    3. @7:12 International relations and diplomacy is very different from being a cutthroat New York City buisnessman making buisness deals.

Winning a cutthroat buisness deal is important if you want to make a buck and become rich.

Winning friends and infulencing people take a different set of skills. Skills Trump does not present to the world and who frankly. embarasses the United States.

In foreign policy, there is an art of persuasion. Yes, the United States brings a lot of force to the table. Our economic strength; our military strength. But most important is our strength in our belief in freedom, liberty and democracy.

Donald Trump makes a big deal about putting up a wall to stop illegal immigration. He also wants to make friends with the most dispised man in the world, who kills innocent women, men and children in their homes every night by sending missiles and drones into their bedrooms.

Ronald Reagan helped to tear down a wall, and delivered millions of people into a world of freedom and liberty.

Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan.

    4. Brent, I love Reagan and he was the right president for the eighties. He understood the foresight of our Founding Fathers and the dangers that communism posed to this country as well as anyone.

So does Trump. Far from wanting to befriend Putin, Trump is doing his best to reverse the aggression allowed by previous democrat administrations and stop the mess he was left by them.

Counter that with the democrats, who have been taken over by the Left and are on the verge of having the communist candidate OF THEIR PARTY elected to be mayor of NYC.

Meanwhile, think of the many supposedly “moderate” or “mainstream” leaders for the 2028 democrat party presidential nomination, and name ONE who is willing to speak out about the dangers of communism and stand up and denounce the communists in their own party.

You won’t find ANY. I can only assume that’s because that’s who THEY actually are.

Complain about Trump all you want, but he is far, far better than the alternative. Like Reagan, he is the right President for his time.

    5. The blunt way to put it is like this, 9:19am.

Ever since Obama, attempts are being made to overthrow America and remake it into an authoritarian controlled country unbound by our magnificent Constitution. This is not a game being played.

Persons inside our nation, and various actors around the world, including some nations within the UN are doing many things to throw America into disarray.

I know, I know. Many will accuse Trump of doing the same thing.

To hold these actors who are dangerous to us at bay requires a strong, decisive leader of great courage. Right now, we have that kind of leader. Unfortunately, very few Members of Congress fit this description. Some have been compromised by the lure of financial gain.

      Time is running out, people.

  4. Please tell me one worthwhile thing the UN has done in the last decade or two, then come back and complain about Trump.

BTW, he is right about illegal immigration, both here and in Europe. It is being done deliberately to undermine Western democracy and culture.

Europe would be wise to follow Trump’s lead on immigration, or they will soon have no countries left.

  5. Joe Biden spent his entire life in service to this country. Foreign policy was the crown jewel in President Biden’s career and administration. It’s only natural that not just Americans but the entire community of nations is feeling let down.

  6. All we can do is hope that Hillary can again run for the office which was stolen from her and appoint Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. All is not lost.

  7. While the European leaders all present well, appear highly polished, and dignified, they govern like idiots. Perhaps it's better to be governed by a leader who talks like an idiot but governs well. My wife is French, she is constantly appalled by Trump's demeanor. I think she would take the former over the latter in a heartbeat.

  8. MM @ 7:26:

Please spare us with the “cult” comment.

One side has lost the ability to have a rational debate on any policy position. All they have left is their blind hatred of the President, as well as the demonization of those who disagree or who give logical alternatives to the irrational policy positions they put forth. From politicians to their accomplices in the media, they all get their daily talking points and dutifully parrot them no matter how little sense they make (defund the police, open borders, etc.). As their irrational policy positions are increasingly rejected by the public, they are becoming more shrill and are doing their best to incite violence among their more radical members.

All of which is to say that you might want to re-evaluate who is in a cult.

Your obvious hatred for Trump and your use of the “cult” smear for those with different opinions is telling.

I’m sure it will make your democrat masters happy, regardless of whether you realize whose work you’re doing or not.

  9. Yes, obviously, the whole world felt better when the United States was in the capable hands of President Joe Biden, but we will get through these dark times. In the meantime we must fight to keep Democracy alive.

  10. Comments are supposedly an important element of blogging. I have less appreciation of them than some of my associates in the blogosphere. Some topics on this post which have reached their limit include Joe Biden, communist mayoral candidate for NYC, and tongue in cheek comments. I know that you're all clever, but....

    1. Mike, your posts are excellent. The humorous ones are well crafted and witty. You bring out the best in people and provide a great read. As that great philosopher Gregg Allman wrote, don't mess up a good thing.
