Nobody will ever accuse Donald Trump of false modesty. In his typical kingly fashion, he let the United Nations know about all the wars he stopped. He was subdued about the wars he would supposedly end on day one, Gaza and Ukraine. There, he has emboldened Netanyahu and Putin to ratchet things up.
While he and MAGA continue their self congratulator interplay, the rest of the world is forced to be silent and polite. After all, the United States remains the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world, even if our current leadership is very quirky.
While we have had issues with the UN for decades, previous presidents had met the situation with attempts to gain better value for our investment, as opposed to Trump's dismissive and disruptive posturing.
Summary of Trump's speech at the U.N.
ReplyDelete1. Your countries all suck
2. None of you know what you are doing
3. The U.S. is better at everything
4. All because of me
5 I'm right about everything
6. You should listen to me & do what I say
7. Give me lots of awards.
The U.N. is doing great things to promote peace and stability in the world. Europe, for its part, has never been more fun and exciting in my lifetime.
ReplyDeleteI don’t understand the negativity.:
Just Trump being Trump. Been that way his entire life. Over decades he fought the cutthroat, ruthless business men all over the world. New York City can be a messy battleground.
ReplyDeleteYou might not like his tactics and delivery, but the man's won nearly all of the battles he faced, and made himself one of the world's most successful international corporate achievers.
For Donald Trump, being the American President IS business.
Ask yourself, how many in that UN General Assembly look forward to facing Trump one on one? The man sets the stage. They all listen, and then proceed with caution.
anon@7:12: enjoy your life in the cult, and you're correct that they proceed with caution, but out of fear of the buffoon, who happens to preside over the world's most powerful country.
DeleteMy life is going extremely well, thank you. I'm very results oriented. I remind you Trump is NOT running in the next election. You can be happy about that, at least.
Delete@7:12 International relations and diplomacy is very different from being a cutthroat New York City buisnessman making buisness deals.
DeleteWinning a cutthroat buisness deal is important if you want to make a buck and become rich.
Winning friends and infulencing people take a different set of skills. Skills Trump does not present to the world and who frankly. embarasses the United States.
In foreign policy, there is an art of persuasion. Yes, the United States brings a lot of force to the table. Our economic strength; our military strength. But most important is our strength in our belief in freedom, liberty and democracy.
Donald Trump makes a big deal about putting up a wall to stop illegal immigration. He also wants to make friends with the most dispised man in the world, who kills innocent women, men and children in their homes every night by sending missiles and drones into their bedrooms.
Ronald Reagan helped to tear down a wall, and delivered millions of people into a world of freedom and liberty.
Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan.
