This is not the first post critical of Promise Neighborhoods on this blog. Batts appeared on the local scene at the height of wokeness, and seems to have prospered from the virtue signalers. He was gifted with over a $mil of state funding from Gov. Josh Shapiro.
The complaint from other activists and non-profits is that Batts is getting the lion's share of funding, but not providing an appropriate amount of service for it.
ADDENDUM MARCH 11th: There appears to be a reconciliation between Whatss Tea and members of Promise Neighborhood. This post has been modified accordingly.
Mike, Promise Neighborhoods is one of the many thousands of Democrat front groups, otherwise useless, posing as NGO's that the current administration is trying to eliminate through DOGE. I think we can all agree this sort of government reform is long overdue.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a Democrat front group?
DeleteSome might suggest it is a way to launder currency. Another might say it is a way to create a false sense of demand by the populace. Another, as a way to reward a special constituent. I am sure there are other potential explanations In any setting, I doubt is is used as a compliment.
DeleteA Democrat front group is an entity that appears to have of purpose other than its intended purpose, which is to further the Democrat agenda. That would be just about ever NGO I know. Can anyone name a tax payer funded NGO that is pursuing change through conservative beliefs?
DeleteThere are so many irregularities, I have chosen my language carefully, swirling around Promise Neighborhoods that an inquisitive person hardly knows where to begin. A number of powerful institutions and well positioned individuals (including one with presidential aspirations) are involved in the mix, along with some very dicey characters. Anyone raising questions about Promise Neighborhoods would do well to tread carefully and take any “intimation” seriously. One thing is clear, there is nothing resembling legitimate oversight.
ReplyDeleteNothing.
I was present at the inception of Promise Neighborhoods. The current iteration of this project has absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to the original version - none.
The comment made at approximately 10:08 AM was made by me. Apologies for the ID oversight.

I have received a number of anonymous comments with accusations against specific people. Such comments would have to be presented with a verifiable name to be published.
ReplyDeleteHas any government entity or private philanthropic requested a routine evaluation? Have any performance evaluations or benchmarks ever been required? Under what conditions is this kind of money given to an organization without any oversight?
ReplyDeletePromise neighborhood is a Scam. They don't stop crime. They normally show up after a shooting and get people excited towards the police. It's a money laundering scheme just like the unions and city council. It's all corrupt. Tuerk thinks promise neighborhood is great. He also thinks he is going to win another term. So he is wrong about Two things.
