Ego Man and The Sycophants

Ego Man and The Sycophants played in front of Congress Tuesday Night. The set included the Gulf Of America. Associated Press was barred for not humming along with the tune. We learned that only George Washington is held in higher esteem than Donald Trump.

The new tariff against Canada and Mexico was in full effect overnight, until the Emperor realized that it would hurt our own car industry. The White House sponsored DOGE fires and rehires has reduced productivity. Massive layoffs coming in the VA won't help our veterans.

While Vance and Johnson looked like cats who swallowed canaries standing behind Trump during the show, the politicians who want a political future beyond 2028, will have to keep their parachutes packed.

    1. I'm sure many of my regular readers think that I have also joined the D tribe, but I haven't. These recents posts reflect my opinion as a disappointed independent. While I applaud the border enforcement, the Musk DOGE is a disaster. Chainsaws and sledgehammers are not precise tools. The Measles outbreak is an unfortunate coincidental statement on the theatrical cabinet appointments. If it was Trump's first term, I'd hope that he'd grow into the office, but it's not.

  2. It's funny that you double, triple or quadruple down on stupid the day after Trump delivered an overwhelmingly popular speech.

I understand that you didn't vote for him and the fact that he was elected must rankle you to no end. But according to CNN and CBS (hardly conservative bastions in the press), 69% and 76% support what Trump said in the speech.

We've now been treated to over a week of your irrational bashing of Trump and his supporters. I don't remember Dementia Joe getting similar treatment here. Heck, you haven't even authored a post about the behavior of Congressional democrats at Tuesday's speech. These are quite surprising omissions from a supposed "conservative independent".

Instead of constantly insulting his supporters as "sycophants", maybe you should take a look in the mirror and consider that it might be you who has the problem.

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a terrible thing, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

    1. anon@5:46: I preferred him to Harris, just not enough to vote for him. Most people, which certainly includes you, don't really understand real independents. You might assume that we are actually D's or R's, but choose to remain anonymous, like you do when posting on blogs. I must confess that I am proud of my non-vote.

  3. Trump iI so far is a mixed bag of good and bad. It will take some time for all this to shake itself out. His foreign relations does not seem to reflect how to make friends and influence people. It is more like his temper at the moment is how he directs his policies.

Removing the illegal ailens brought in by biden to change the dynamics of the electorate to favor the Democrats so far has the approval of most non-Democrats; it shows that the democrats are like pack animals who follow their leader and show little individual initiative. New York City mayor Adams who is now being threatened with removal from office as he wants to get rid of the illegals who are bankrupting his city

Many Americans see Musk as exposing the waste and fraud from the Federal Government, and the bureaucrats who never really had to experience what it is like in the private sector are now learning what the word "layoff" means and are panicing. How that will affect how the government delievers its necessary services is an open question. Doing more with less is another new concept to the Federal bureaucracy.

The 2026 Congressional elections will be the decider if MAGA is successful or not.

    1. anon@5:46: I think that MAGA had an underestimated Cult factor. With Trump not on the ticket in 2026, I think that the turnout will be typical midterm, which won't bode well for the Republicans.

    2. 77 million votes is not a "cult". More like a "mandate".

    3. Your uninformed attack on federal employees just shows your ignorance. They are like everyone else. There are great, good, fair , not so good and bad employees EVERYWHERE. You can certainly weed out bad and not so good, but taking a hatchet to everyone is just cruel. Do you I guess. So MAGA.

  4. Under normal circumstances, Trump is THE guy until mid-January 2025. Why anyone would relish the thought of his failures during this term is beyond belief.

‘Bitting off your nose to spite your face,’ if that’s how the old saying goes, is not the best outcome for anyone.

Should WW3 break out for any number of reasons outside Trump’s control, and we are close, there is NO pleasure in saying “See, I told you so.”

  6. As a federal worker, I am appalled at the way Trump and Musk are handling DOGE. When DOGE was announced, I was more than excited because I actually thought there would be much needed reforms to that merit system enacted over 100 years ago under Teddy Roosevelt. I have watched the system do more to protect the lazy federal workers Trump and Musk always talk about rather than protect the hard working. But of course Trump is being Trump and they are using their chainsaws when they should be using a surgical scalpel. They are creating total chaos that brings the whole concept of DOGE down to its knees.

That being said, I agree with a previous post and I’ve learned to take the good with the bad when it comes to the second Trump administration….the border is more secure than it was under Biden-Harris, we are starting to question all the “free money” we give away to other countries, and if I keep my federal job, I probably have a better chance of being promoted now that DEI has gone out the window (and please don’t make me out to be heartless, I’ve been passed over for a promotion twice due to the job going to some less qualified POC).

Mike - I totally get why you are an independent voter, and maybe someday I might switch from Republican to Independent. Unfortunately, right now, I don’t have that luxury. I have a young son and I have to think about his future. In this last election, Harris and Trump weren’t the best choices we were given, and if I didn’t have my son, I probably would’ve voted for an independent candidate or skipped that line on the ballot. But let’s be honest, either Harris or Trump was going to win that election, and I needed to vote for the lesser of two evils- but I don’t blame you for skipping that race on the ballot.

    1. anon@7:36: As an independent, I seldom vote for the independent candidate(s). It just means that I'm not a partisan D or R. As an independent, I give up my opportunity to vote for a candidate in the primary. My recommendation is to be registered with a party, then vote in the general as you see fit.

    2. You sound like a rational federal employee, i hope you and your family fare well. Yes, some of what is happening with DOGE is clumsy. Unfortunately when the bloat has been allowed to fester and grow as long as it is, it will be clumsy. Hopefully, fewer mistakes are made and those doing their job and important work are hot hurt in the end. However, even a lot of good people are involved in a system that needs to be cleaned up and no one has tried to do it, the only response has been to throw more money at it. There are many of us who find Trump offensive but he is a tool to accomplish some difficult changes. Not saying he will get it all right, but if you don't try... The private sector often has to deal with these issues. If you have any empathy you feel for those who haven't "earned" a termination by poor performance or other legitimate reason. Economic decisions hurt in the short term some more than most.

However, if the boil is not lanced, it ultimately makes things worse.

  7. The democrats are busy destroying themselves. They acted idiotically during Trump's speech and put their idiocy in front of all the nation to see. Their antics with the one gentleman fromTexas being removed was a stupid spectacle, and their holding up their silly little signs and not even applauding for a 14 year-old boy who is fighting brain cancer because of their TDS were shameful childish shows of stupidity.

Is that all they have to offer Americans now ?

Also, their policies during the biden regime never had more than about 20% of Americans support them. That was why they lost the election.

What was actually suprising is how many American voters actually voted for Harris. Now the Republicans did gain the majority in the Senate and hold ther majority in the house. However they did not gain overwhelming majorities which indicates that Trump did not have long "coattails" in the November election. It was more indicative that Trump did not make the sale of his policies to an overwhelming majority of Americans. Unlike other challengers in a presidential election, Trump did have a record to run on.

The results of the November election was was more a rejection of the Democrats and their far left insanity than of people wanting what Trump was promising.

    1. Trump promised to close the borders. Democrats said it couldn't be done without a new immigration bill that would have essentially legalized illegal immigration. Pure politics on their part. After a month in office Trump did what Biden and the Dems could have done but deliberately failed to do. He closed the border through simple executive action. Mission accomplished, a campaign promise kept. I can list many other agenda items Trump ran on, all polled well with the American people. Americans see him focused on keeping these other campaigns promises. This is why they voted for Him. They believe him.People were sick of politicians, who told them what they wanted to hear. Then did what they pleased. Americans wanted and needed someone who would make American work for them. He won the popular vote in spite of being massively outspent by the Democrats, dragged into kangaroo courts, with the mainstream media solidly against him and acting as official liars for Biden and company. America voted against the Democrats but they also voted for Trump. Yes, American said No to the Democrats bit they also said yes to Trump.

  8. Mike, no one thinks you a Democrat but many are sure to believe you are just one of the few remaining, non Democrat "Trump Haters". You are free to be so, the rest of us will celebrate an America liberated from the very radicalized, pro war, pro censureship Democratic Party. Even Trump is a welcome relief from that. If you survived four years of Biden and his destroy America agenda, you can surely make it through Trump's non ideological buffoonery.

  11. Gee, I never knew Trump and an ego. I sure miss those modest types like Clinton and Obama.
