When Ce-Ce first ran for City Council, I attended her fund raiser at the Brew Works. I think by then the distance in our politics was already apparent. Ce-Ce is so left of me now, that my old eyes can barely see that far. However, she's in synch with much of current Allentown. I hope she realizes that I also care about humanity, even if I don't subscribe to DEI as an operational priority.
For the upcoming Democratic primary, I'm supporting Ed Zucal for mayor. Although he's also somewhat to my left, he has institutional knowledge of what was once a safer Allentown.
There is no longer any hope for Allentown. Time for anyone with a lick of common sense to pack up and leave this once fair city.
ReplyDelete1:31 - As much as I’d like to say that leaving Allentown is the answer for those with common sense, it’s not. The substandard politicians and policies that have ruined Allentown are not content with just ruining Allentown and the Allentown School District.
ReplyDeleteThe dependent but reliably “progressive” voters that Allentown attracts from NYC and NJ soon realize that Allentown isn’t the paradise they believed, so they move to Allentown’s better-run suburbs. The result has been that the same radical politicians as Allentown currently control Lehigh County government and are also making inroads in formerly conservative townships and boroughs, and particularly the school districts that serve their residents.
Far from writing off Allentown, anyone opposing the policies in Allentown should get more involved there, even if they live outside the city limits. In addition to fighting harmful policies in your own area, you need to support those who will move the needle to the right inside the city as well.
Otherwise, you might as well start planning YOUR next move as well. You’re only a decade (at best) behind where Allentown is today.
I have said already what I believe her true motivations are, and that Ce-Ce and sincerity are on parallel paths. The real problem for us however is her political vision. It is same naive city destroying woke, cultish leftism that has already destroyed many other once wonderful cities in America. Many of the leaders of these urban centers are finally realizing the damage they have wrought and are attempting to undo the worst of it. Ce-Ce and the Democrats candidate for county exec Josh Seigel however are still committed to following the same road to ruin of Portland Or, Seattle, S.F., L.A, D.C..., and make Lehigh County and Allentown resemble these boarded up, crime infested, drug ridden, homeless populated dystopias. Yes! They are that stupid, and anyone who votes for them is as well! But trust me, Allentown and Lehigh County are full of such people. Increasingly those who will vote for such stupidity are found in the cozy upscale neighborhoods and communities and less so in our low income areas. If these upscale idiots prevail in the general the damage won't be confined to just Allentown anymore, it will be county wide. Then, in time the well healed fools will perhaps see for themselves the error of their thinking. It will be visible outside their homes when they too will have the downtown Allentown experience.
ReplyDeleteIf a rising tide lifts all boats then a lowering tide takes all boats down with it. The municipalities surrounding Allentown should be very concerned.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to comments, I do look for diversity, diversity of opinion, vs. number of comments. Consequently, I stopped accepting the time to move or vote differently repetition.
