Rumble On The Radio

In 2014 Alan Jennings invited Bernie O'Hare and me to join him on his radio show, Lehigh Valley Discourse.  The station manager refused to archive the show,  and Jennings quit in protest against the censorship.  Move ahead four years, and Alan is back on public radio at WDIY.  For his first new show he again invited both O'Hare and myself.  However since that first appearance, O'Hare has developed hostility toward me,  for pointing out some aspects of his blog operating manner.

Since O'Hare and I both accepted Jennings' invitation,  I assumed that he was putting his hostility aside for the show.  Less than halfway into the taping he pounced on a word which I had mispronounced. I then noticed that he has a legal pad full of my blog quotes, and notes pertaining to them.  He accused me of hosting a hate blog based on a reader comment, which I didn't reply to.   Although O'Hare knows that I prefer not to debate in the comment section,  he delighted in taking his example out of context.  Ironically, Jennings wanted to talk about Trump's hostility and incivility, but seemed somewhat oblivious to O'Hare's hostility unfolding right in front of him.

I appreciated Alan's invitation, and although Bernie's attacks and my replies might make for an interesting show, O'Hare's behavior was unnecessary.  Hopefully this show will make it through the archive procedure,  and Alan's new run on the show will be well received.

ADDENDUM: Occasionally, someone says something rich in irony,  especially if they maliciously enjoy weaponizing words.  Such was the case on last week's taping, when O'Hare accused me of misogyny. In early 2016 O'Hare wrote...Whether I agree or disagree with her on this or that, I must say Susan Wild has been a breath of very fresh air in Allentown. She was put into a nearly impossible situation, and has reacted with integrity and honor. People with my history tend to bring the profession down, but someone like Wild can rescue a democracy in peril. He continued praising her for almost two years. Toward the end of 2017 he wrote...She has handled herself with integrity and a sedulous nature that kept the ship of state from foundering. With O'Hare, friendship seems to trump truth. When Wild put out a mailer about his friend Morganelli that O'Hare didn't like, the truth changed. When I pointed out that he did a 180 on Susan Wild, and essentially called her a whore, he tried to deflect away the truth of my observation by claiming that my statement was misogynistic. By May of 2018 O'Hare was accusing Wild of bashing little people to benefit hospitals...All of the regular people she screwed over 30 years will be contacted.

O'Hare thinks that his readers are a weak minded jury that he can bully and manipulate at will. He delights in playing up to local judges and the district attorney. When one of his anonymous readers took him to task last primary, O'Hare replied...Sign your name so we know who to sue

  1. I'm just glad that my tax dollars (supporting "public" radio) were TEMPORARILY diverted to cover an argument between two local bloggers, instead of (my tax dollars being used) as a forum to bash the President.

It's difficult to imagine why advertisers and WDIY listener(s) don't want to fund this high-minded civic discourse on their own.

  2. After all these years, the same guy who somehow conspired to lose his license to practice law STILL can not admit that his fake, manufactured allegation levied at a private citizen, who shall remain nameless here despite daring to disagree with O'Hare politically to this very day, was immediately recognized as time-wasting trash by the United States Secret Service.

A political hit job which NEVER had any chance of succeeding --- THIS is how local Lehigh Valley blogger Bernie O'Hare operates and has been operating for quite some time.

Anyone with even an ounce of brains knows who O'Hare is and what his agenda is all about.

  3. I planned on placing this post on Thursday, however a post today by O'Hare caused this earlier response.

O'Hare's contention that I was erroneous about Irving Pool is typical of his distortions. While there may be a national lifeguard shortage, Allentown wants to close Irving Pool. It is for that reason that they opened Cedar Beach full-time, Mack and Jordan part-time, and Irving not at all. My blog, along with Dennis Pearson and Bob Smith created political pressure on Ray O'Connell to have lifeguards reassigned.

O'Hare is irritated by my post stating that for truth readers are pretty much limited to this blog. For O'Hare truth starts about how he feels about someone. It is for that reason that his posts about some people are always positive, while for others they are always negative.

  4. "...Ironically, Jennings wanted to talk about Trump's hostility and incivility..."

Given that opportunity, I would have politely declined the offer. If that is what Mr Jennings believes, he needs to look at the actions of his own party. Which Mr O'Hare needs to do as well.

  5. It was not an easy going show. Bernie suffers from some form of arrested development, he is like a third grade boy with a tree fort, deciding who is in or out of his club. Although he professes to be a journalist, he seems to value loyalty above truth. I told Jennings that the local area has enough issues to discuss without worrying about Trump.

  6. I also found Jenning's premise for the talk about Trump's hostility something you would expect to find on leftist public radio these days on that taxpayer-funded media.

The the situation today reminds me of what it was in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Democrats are embracing radicalism in the name of fighting Trump, or "authoritarianism", as Bernie O'Hare calls it, which is the most dangerous political tactic employed by either side in my 40 years of following politics and government. We are balanced on a knife's edge, with literally no margin for error.

Meanwhile, Democrats are marching relentlessly toward a gasoline dump with a lit match in hand.

    1. Trump and the Republican Party are practicing fascism and corporatism so those opposing them with radicalism is fine. To quote Barry Goldwater, "I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."

  7. Where were the judges and the District Attorney when it came to Pawlowski's corruption? WHERE WERE THEY? They did NOTHING! We only had the FBI to protect us.

Has anything really changed in the Lehigh Valley since Pawlowski was exposed? Did the District Attorney ever make a statement about Pawlowski?

Seems like Susan Wild did a great job "fixing" what Pawlowski broke. But no one said ANYTHING when Pawlowski was Mayor. Never said a damn thing.

  8. Rich@12:03, this valley runs on sacred cows, cronyism and fear. that's why there are so many anonymous comments on O'Hare's blog. They're even afraid of O'Hare, who tags people as racists and such.

I hope that's sarcasm. Wild was appointed by Ed and put in place before anyone knew of the FBI investigation. She was there to enable the corruption, not fix it.

As someone else noted, what's really changed at City Hall?

The players may have changed, but the game remains the same.

I don’t make nice with racists and bigots. I confront them. And after that radio show, Ivan proclaim that MM now has a new asshole.

apparently O'Hare is trying to say in a crude way that he thinks that the radio show will demonstrate me a racist and him a warrior of virtue. I believe that most people will instead hear him for the bully and cheap shot taker that he is. Bernie and I use the same blogging platform, and neither of us know who makes anonymous comments. While he calls some of his anonymous commenters cowards, other times he attributes distasteful comments to those he doesn't like. Bernie been using the same tricks for years, trying to marginalize those who he cannot bully.

O'Hare just put this comment up on his very distasteful post of July 12th about the radio show. I will link to the podcast when available. I think that most listeners will only hear a pompous bully when he talks.
