The Morning Call Cheesesteak Sunday

For those of you who thought that The Morning Call couldn't get any more cheesy, wait until tomorrow. The Sunday feature will be on guess what, Vince's Cheesesteaks.  A reporter was offended last fall when I stated that the paper is in the bag for Reilly's NIZ. He thought that I was insulting the journalistic integrity of his associates. My apology, certainly the paper should be concentrating on cheesesteaks.  The promotion shown above was on page 2 of Friday's paper.  Under The Morning Call, in the right hand corner, it reads, The Lehigh Valley's First Source for News.  It's becoming the first source for cheesiness.

  1. It's almost 7 a.m. and still no Sat. paper.

  2. @6:46, when it comes, you will again see the same promotion, also on page 2

  3. I'm sure these promotions have to be part of being included in the miz.

  4. @8:34, whoever heard of a feature, What to expect when Vince's Cheesesteaks opens in downtown Allentown? they should be embarrassed as a newspaper.

  5. In the meantime, not a word about Stewart's steak shop, which is near Allen High School and has very good steak sandwiches. Instead, a steak sandwich that isn't even open is being touted

  6. Stewart's steak shop isn't in the NIZ, nor is Zandys or the Brass Rail

Actually Yocco's makes a decent cheesesteak also. We used to go to Vince's out on Wqlbert Avenue years ago and never got a cheesesteak there.

The one I really miss is the old Look at 8th and Linden. It was a hole-in-the-wall place on the southwest corner. It was delicious.

  8. I don't recall any Morning Call angst when Vince's had to bail from Trexlertown recently claiming to want to be closer to their 'roots'. It was as if T-town was in Nebraska!

  9. The word must have come down from Reilly for the Morning Call to push Vinces hard and often, pull out all the stops.

And the lapdogs at Sixth and Linden say "how much"

  10. It was so nice today, we went to Valley Forge to the park. On the way back, we made a special stop at Zandys.

Just to put a thumb in the eye of The Morning Call. lol. I know you're a history buff Mr Molovinski. I didn't know that was a movie theater. My husband showed me the original Zandy's a few blocks away on St John's street.

I hope everyone enjoys the nice weekend :)

  11. jamie@4:49, i've done posts on zandys, showing both the original and current, where they have been now for 50 plus years. and there is nothing about this post, or the previous ones, meant to demean vince's. i also had done a post on the original vince's, near 7th and union streets. this post deals with the morning call's absurd blending of NIZ promotion and news. i wish all the steak shops success, where ever they are.
