Paid For By The Friends Of Ed Pawlowski

A mayor being behind the scenes in a city council election is nothing new in Allentown. Doing it so openly, as Mr. Ed now does, suggests that he has faith that Allentown knows or cares little about democracy. Shut up you hicks, and enjoy your hockey.

  2. A long list of willing accomplices. Many will view those in this group as either uncritical believers, political hacks, or politically ambitious.

  3. scott@1:38, there is so much wrong with this PAC, that it is hard to know where to begin. imagine a fund raiser asking for $250, $500 or $1000 for a school board or city council candidate? not exactly a grass root effort. i can assure you that the people they're seeking for those high donations have NEVER been in Candida's Bar at 12th and chew.

  5. I will admit I have not been to Candida's Bar for a number of years.I remember it as a clean friendly atmosphere. That being said I wonder how long The Mayor can stick with Ms. Mathison Who appears to be a public employee union advocate. It would seem the Allentown Teachers Union would have access to a 'mole' placed deep into the the A.S.D. negotiating team.Sounds like it would be a great advantage to the Union not so great for the taxpayers

  6. Whose idea of a "better allentown" or "better Lehigh County."

This is embarrassing, and for the two state reps, childlike -- in other words, acting like big shots in politics. Maybe someday they will understand what statesmanship really is.

I believe both were political science majors. I wonder if they read primary sources concerning the fundamentals of political leadership in a Democracy?

  7. MM,
The grassroots effort is officially dead in Allentown, in my opinion. If you plan on winning you are going to have to obtain some serious funds to promote your name and gain ANY type of momentum. Because the reality is the Poor don't vote, the Middle Class don't know, and the Rich don't care.....

    1. No I don't think the grass roots effort is dead yet, I think with support and hard work we can elect the right man for the job. Someone who would listen and be the people's vote, I believe we can get Julian Kern voted on to City Council.

  8. Mayor for life, Mr. Ed, is following the blueprint of former Chicago Mayor Richard Daly Sr. The citizens of Allentown are apathetic to this bold move by the gang of three. Who says socialism doesn't strive in the great USA! It reminds me of Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin calling the shots in Pravda (the Morning Call).

  9. Candida's Bar used to be a pizza place years ago. Heard it was an establishment that catered to the Gay clientele in recent years.

Apparantley now it's become the proverbial smoke-filled political back room where deals are cut.

Ed is bringing his Chicago baggage along with him. Part of his history I suppose. Conservative thought and ideas are not welcome to his Mafia.

  10. Go on Facebook and see who "likes" this announcement. It might be enlightening.

  11. @10:29, candida's is not a place "where deals are cut", that would be one of the new NIZ establishments on hamilton st. the business is owned by one the candidates being supported by the pac, and they're apparently attempting to give her establishment a boost by conducing the fund raiser there. she has been a" yes" woman for pawlowski for years, since his first primary win in 2005.

  12. I thought Sam's Cafe was at 12th and Chew before Candida's.
