The Politics Of Allentown
Last night Jeff Glazier made history by being appointed twice to City Council. In recent years as many people have been appointed as elected. However, the big news comes from molovinsky on allentown's Harrisburg bureau. Our correspondent has been told that although Tom Wolf sends his warmest regards to Pawlowski, he thinks that Ed can best serve Pennsylvania by staying in Allentown. Although politics in Allentown has lacked any excitement in the last decade, the next Democratic mayoral primary will be a cage fight.

Next Democratic mayoral primary? We are stuck with Ed and he is stuck with us. Sort of a Shakespearean tragedy when you think about it; self important man marooned in a position he is too good for takes out his wrath on his minions, who in turn are to timid and foolish to cast off the autocrat.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime,Season's Greetings.

scott@8:27, as i reported here previously, both sam bennett and charlie thiel would be willing to oppose pawlowski in a primary. i also believe that maclean's application for council indicates higher political ambition. i found it interesting that daryl hendricks cast his vote for glazier, instead of maclean. i had been previously told that hendricks tends to follow authority, and pawlowski is certainly currently that.
ReplyDeleteNo one gets there but through Ed. Daryl understands that. I hope you are right that someone will challenge Ed in the next mayoral primary. But better hope it isn't two or three challengers.

Mr. Molovinsky, Once again You do the public a great service by announcing Mr. Pawloski will be Mayor for life and not going to Harrisburg
ReplyDeleteWell it's sad that voter turnout is also low. We the residents need to vote and make our voices heard. If we want change we must enact change.
ReplyDeleteThiel doesn't have the stuff for a bruising challenge.
ReplyDeleteR.McC. and S.B. do.
Glazier is a time tested and proven hack.
Perfect.
Rodger knows where some of the bodies are buried.
ReplyDeleteThat will be helpful.
