Helping Democracy in Allentown

As a party candidate to run for the state house you need 300 signatures. Today, a State Representative told me how difficult that can be even for an incumbent. Steven Ramos is running as a Republican in the new Allentown 22nd District, which is overwhelmingly Democratic. I ask all registered Republicans in the District to contact Steven and arrange to sign his petition. Regardless of who you support, everybody benefits from more choices. Steven can be reached at 610 335=5247 or steven.ramos@hotmail.com

  2. anon@3:49, the new 22nd makes sense compared to the other new district maps. for instance, the area west of cedar crest blvd, north of the golf course to rt. 22, is now part of the 183th district from northampton.

  3. Your post suggests that with only 5 days left he is in deep trouble getting those signatures. Democracy is not dead in Allentown, it is dead in within the Republican party. If it is not, Mr. Ramos will secure those signatures by March 8th.

  4. @2:19, as one who secured about 200 signatures from middle class neighborhoods in 2005, from either dems or repubs, i can tell you that it's a daunting task. to be limited to registered republicans in city center apartments, who must first come and open the building's outer door to a stranger, is an uphill battle, when it must be repeated over 300 times.

  6. I live and work in the new 22nd District.

I just got off the phone with Mr. Ramos just now, after having invited him to come to my place of employment at his earliest convenience in order to sign his petition and introduce him to my colleagues.

Please bear in mind that a signature on a petition is not the same as a vote cast at the ballot box.

I encourage all others in the City With No (Spending?) Limits to give Mr. Ramos a fair shot.
