WPA Treasures Tour of Lehigh Parkway
It was said that in the two years, 1935=1937, fifty years worth of work was accomplished in the Allentown park system by the Works Progress Administration. Tomorrow morning, Saturday April 6th, in cooperation with Friends Of Allentown Parks, we begin the tour on the parking lot, just over the bridge, at 10:00a.m. A leisurely stroll on the bridle path, on both sides of the creek will cover six sites and take about one hour, ending back at the parking lot.

If that is a picture of the bridge that you previously mentioned was torn down, may those people and their families forever be ashamed of their actions. That bridge is beautiful.
ReplyDelete@2:55, the bridge on the post card shown here is still in use, and leads to the Robin Hood parking lot. i believe that it also was a wpa construction.
ReplyDeletescroll back and see the post and picture of the island. it shows a small walking bridge to the island. that was the bridge removed.
Where exactly where the tour begin?
ReplyDelete@7:46, at the spring pond, which is right next to the parking lot.
