A Modern Mein Kampf
In 2007, University of Chicago Professor John Mearsheimer co-authored The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy. His premise was that AIPAC successfully manipulated our foreign policy to serve Israel, not United States. The book was a best seller and has launched a career way beyond his tenure at Chicago. He has graduated to criticizing Israel directly, and now, Jews. In 2010 he proclaimed Israelis as belonging to either the Righteous Jews or the New Afrikaners, stating that Israel was becoming an apartheid state. Last year he wrote a dust jacket endorsement for a book by a Hitler apologist. He can be found as a commentator on Al Jazeera and a speaker at Palestinian seminars. Yesterday, some of his misconceptions about AIPAC were parroted as comments in the local blogosphere.

I saw some of these comments you were referring to. I have absolutely no idea you do it - keep your temper in check. Clearly, you are a much better man than me.
ReplyDeleteBAD-TEMPERED JOE WITH NO TOLERANCE FOR TERRORISTS AND / OR THEIR SUPPORTERS, ACTIVE OR PASSIVE
Mike,
ReplyDeleteI have heard with my own ears university intellectuals equate Islamic terrorism with Israel and US foreign and domestic policy. At one dinner I announce that I would not sit in the company of people who attempt to equivocate flying hijacked airliners into office buildings with any Israeli or US actions. I left, they were shocked.
Anti-Israeli thinking is the norm on university and college campuses.

scott, my brief writing style often leaves much unsaid. jews are less than 2% of the population. more than half of them are way to the left of the AIPAC. about 100,000 jews actually support that organization, with about 5,000 active members. although for their numbers they are very effective, to say or imply that they dictate united States policy smacks of the cabal stereotypes employed against jews for centuries.
ReplyDeleteMike,
ReplyDeleteThe unveiled hatred of the US and Israel is omnipresent on almost every college campus.

Have you really been on almost every college campus?
