Prescription for Doctor
Abraham Twerski was a Chief Rabbi of a Hasidic branch of Judaism, and an world renowned Torah Scholar. He is also a medical doctor specializing in Psychiatry. He was a professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, and founder of the famed Gateway Rehabilitation Center. He is author of over 60 books. In one book he writes about his own low self esteem. If the good doctor had only taken the time to run for Allentown City Council, not only would it have improved his self-esteem, he might instead have delusions of grandeur.

I really hate to be critical but it is due to blogs and the mean spirited commentators that keep men like Rabbi Twerski from going into public service. On this day thirty years ago someone died, Imagine all the people living life in peace........
ReplyDeletein my opinion, being a medical doctor is a higher calling.
ReplyDeleteIf the good doctor had only taken the time to write a local blog, not only would it have improved his self-esteem, he might instead have delusions of grandeur.
ReplyDeleteunless he wrote it anonymously, then his diagnosis might be paranoia
ReplyDeleteNow I see the problem. Some folks like the "the tribune of the people" see medical doctors as more important that those that toil in the fields of government or education who try to make the world better so that we can have doctors for all. My surgeon just got $22000 for about 6 hours work. I do not begrudge her, I know she went to school a long time, but really.......
ReplyDeletegary, for the record, i hold teachers in high regard. i was trying to be restrained in my reply to anon 7:04 AM. for him to think that bloggers have discouraged people from public service is absurd.
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect, Mr. Ledebur.
ReplyDeleteThe bill for the surgeon's services was $ 22,000.
That does not mean that was the good doctor's PERSONAL PROFIT.
I have every confidence out of that $ 22,000 --- various expenses for things such as medical equipment and bandages, etc., must be subtracted.
I am sure the nurses, etc. are expecting a paycheck...and the good doctor needs to make his malpractice insurance payment, too!
Sure, you are more than aware of this, Mr. Ledebur.
I do respect and admire your commitment and spirit, however, as a dedicated and determined Class Warrior...
...and wish you (and Obama) continued luck and success in the coming New Year with all your hatred and resentment of the evil, greedy "rich".
Frohe Weihnachten!

7:04 Anon,
ReplyDeleteGuess JOHN LENNON found out the HARD WAY.
There are, in fact, BAD PEOPLE in the world, like MARK DAVID CHAPMAN --- and others --- such as the sixth and current President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD, who is happy to tell anyone who will listen he will not rest until Israel is destroyed.
Of course, HAMAS has the destruction of Israel in its charter.
Yeah, all the people living life in peace, alright.
Anonmous 11:47----Oh you misunderstood. The surgeon got $22,000 and the hospital got $124,000 for two night stay, including bandages! I guess you haven't had a serious illness lately. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteGL:
ReplyDeleteI can guess which house of medicine you were a guest at?
The hospitals in this area are the perfect examples why health care costs are so high.
The value of their marginal utility lags way behind the cost it takes to get them there.
In the final analysis hospitals, doctors and insurance companies make far too much money for the product they produce.
Well is it about the ego or the patient. To determine that just look at their advertising budgets. It would astound you.
