Mayor For A Block

                                                                    photograph by michael molovinsky
Although I've titled this image Mayor For A Block, I could have just as easily called it The Future Mayor. When the Budweiser Wagon left the staging area on 10th Street, and rounded the corner down Hamilton, Julio Guridy had the seat of honor. Although I do not believe that Pawlowski will succeed in his try for the governorship, we now know that his ambitions extend beyond Allentown. When he does leave City Hall, Julio is the likely successor. Regardless, I have enjoyed using the Budweiser Wagon as a vehicle for my photography.

I don't know what's worse, more Pawlowski or he moves on and we get Guridy.....

guridy is well liked by the hispanics, who will eventually control elections in allentown.

Julio is next in line. Donovan is a choice. Can we start the discussion on Donovan as "the other guy" that we can vote for in November?

Who wants Guridy as our mayor?

What do the Hispanics like about Guridy? How does he help the or support them? He is a talking head politician. I want the Hispanics to know that he is a Politician more than he is a Hispanic. He is a businessman first and foremost. Let's be honest.

rich @2:46, you can certainly start that discussion; it's not off topic and it is relevant.

rich @2:50, i won't speculate and stereotype on why julio is popular, but i've asked enough hispanics about him before i made that assertion.

I saw Mr. Gurity on 69 news a few years ago. It so sad to see how far Allentown has deteriorated.Mr.Fegley worked so hard to elect Mr.Pawlowski and now we got Gurity ?

guridy will be starting his fourth term as a city councilman, a feat only done previously by emma tropiano. he was the top vote getter. i don't believe that julio has ever voted my way on any issue, but he certainly has earned his seat on council, and whatever else he gets elected to.

Not arguing whether he's well liked, I just don't think he'll be a good mayor.

I do agree with you, he has earned his seat on council and will probably be the next mayor. And it'll be another case of Allentown getting what it deserves.

Guridy will have a difficult time obtaining votes from those like himself due to the demographic that would vote for him historically never voting.

@7:13, the hispanics don't vote their numbers, but they still vote. julio was the top vote getter among city council candidates, and received many votes from other than hispanics.
