I was surprised to see the Trump meme on Mackenzie's Facebook feed. While I have been recommending that the Congressman speak out against Trump, I figured that he would just quietly promote himself, with little to no mention of Trump.
Could Trump be more popular here in the Valley and Poconos than I realize? I don't think so .Is it possible that Mackenzie thinks that the President's agenda is wonderful?
While Mackenzie's Democratic opponent is yet unknown, it is known that it will be a very expensive election. In addition to maintaining a majority in the house, Trump is concerned about impeachment. I'll speculate that Ryan is going for the campaign money, and likely Trump himself campaigning for him.
Maybe Mackenzie is simply able to filter out the noise and rationally concluded that Trump has made great progress on the problems that he inherited and is moving the country in positive direction.
ReplyDeleteWhile anti-Trump partisans will always find something to complain about, I don’t think that’s arguable and Trump’s successes go far beyond the 5 mentioned in the Trump meme on Mackenzie’s Facebook feed.
Apparently that is Mackenzie's calculation. I think that in a purple district he made a mistake. Trump's on a victory lap, which I don't think most voters understand or share.

ReplyDeleteWhile many have lots to question about Trumps agenda, only now 1 year along, where is the viable alternative? Domestically, they are all the same as Biden and in foreign policy they will do as they are told and could be worse than Trump. Face it, the country is screwed.

DeleteThe democrats offer nothing new. The newly elected democrat Governor just signed off on a laundry list of far-left policies during her first week in office. Naturally, she ran as a “moderate” to get elected, but quickly has shown us what she is. That’s the same playbook they’ll use here.
Personally, I like not having to take out a second mortgage to fill up my gas tank and buy a dozen eggs at the store.
I realize people might not like Trump’s style, but to me that’s irrelevant. Trump is right in policy, and we’re FAR better off than if the democrats were in control.
Ray, If you mean our Representatives and Senators are all the same, I completely agree! In America now, we do not have a traditional 2-party government. We have what some are calling one, big UniParty made up of both Democrats and Republicans.
ReplyDeleteOur Congress works together to maintain the status quo. Their common goal is to REMAIN IN OFFICE. They’ll do whatever it takes, including lying, taking payoffs, and back-stabbing. Some will even get involved in criminal behavior.
President Trump is very much in the way of these mischievous grifters. He is the best weapon of resistance we have right now.

I wonder who you are preaching to? There are no undecided about Trump, only one year in. Already Trump has weaponized the Federal government against New Jersey. Those blatant actions are not appreciated by the public, or the swing voters you need for 2026. I will no longer be advising MacKenzie to speak out, he has cast his lot.
ReplyDeleteOww! Oww! Oww! My eyes hurt from that image of Trump doing his Trump dance, or wiggle, or whatever it is. Blaming Biden for the price of eggs is just silly. Eggs were priced by supply, demand, and bird flu. Tax relief is phony. It’s just increasing the deficit, but we’ll let the next president, and the next generation deal with that. It was a big mistake for Mackenzie to try to cozy up to Trump after he made an effort to break with him over healthcare. I thought he might be sincere, but now I think he’s just another career politician.

Going to Davos and scaring the Europeans into letting us do whatever we want in Greenland without taking it by force and conceding nothing was totally brilliant. Those of us suffering in Allentown wonder what it would be like to have a strong, no nonsense law and order governance making aggressive, sensible and smart decisions and [it pains me to say this] Make Allentown Great Again??

Trump embarrassed both himself and us in Davos. Worse, Europe now feels that we're undependable, both for defense and trade. BTW, we're not suppose to scare our allies.
ReplyDeleteThings change. Earlier this year, the UK announced they were transferring sovereignty of the strategic Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean. Yes, they signed a long-term lease to continue to use it, but I can assure you it’s not as solid as the UK actually owning it.
DeleteGreenland is strategic from both a military and economic standpoint, and it is a North American island, not European. Trump’s right to be concerned about our adversaries advancing on it, and let’s face it, Denmark can’t defend it. Yes, we could accept the status quo and possibly get drawn into a military fight over it later, or we could find a way to acquire it and avoid that fight. Trump is taking the latter path.
What you’re complaining about is part of Trump’s negotiation style. Greenland was likely the last thing on Denmark’s mind before Trump brought it up, and likely needs a little push to bring it to the forefront. I believe there will be some sort of agreement reached that satisfies the wants of all parties - Denmark, the US, and those living in Greenland.
Instead of complaining about every twist in the negotiations, I’ll wait to see the final result. You should try it as well.
