As the USS Gerald Ford and its support ships position off Central and South America, Trump claims he fighting a drug war. In reality, he may well be waging regime change in Venezuela under a false flag. Never known as a moral giant, he's depreciating the Navy, especially those following the orders to blow up civilian boats.
Although I won't mention the Captain's name, I can assume after reading his previous commands and missions, he's not sailing to this assignment with the same pride. Of course, previously, he did not receive his orders from a former Fox News host.
My dwindling readership will take heart that my stats keep going down. It is a small price to pay for some integrity, which is more than we're getting from our local representatives in Washington. Trump, still mad about the Reagan tape on tariffs, has imposed another 10% on Canada. Not a peep from Mackenzie and McCormick. Meanwhile, both Hess Brothers and Horlacher are threatening to cancel their ads on this blog. I refuse to ask for donations, as is the fashion with other digital sites.
I'm not here to be polite or popular

I'm not surprised to hear your readership is dwindling. You exhibit an over fixation on condemning the current federal administration in Washington, at least half of it. This behavior, I'm sure, is a form of therapy for you, but for many readers is tedious and off-putting.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on a speedy recovery!
If there there has ever been a time that warrants a concerned fixation on the Executive branch the time is now.
DeleteMaybe your readership is down because they come here to read Molovinsky on Allentown, not Molovinsky on Washington.
ReplyDeleteI hate to state it so bluntly, but I guess I’m not here to be polite or popular either.
anon@6:57: thanks for your concern, but if my magic 8 Ball is correct, there will be a push back against Trump's immaturity in the mid-terms, affecting you locally.
DeleteBy that logic, EVERY issue is an Allentown issue.
DeletePerhaps there will be pushback and perhaps it will affect who my local representative is in NEXT YEAR’s election, or maybe it won’t.
I do know that we have an Allentown (and county) election in just over a week (and people are voting now), and that the current mayor has proposed a tax increase that is currently before city council.
That seems to be a little more of an immediate concern, at least for Allentown
anon@7:20: Scroll back a little on this blog, I have posted (and campaigned) for my city and county choices. They are the same as most of my established readers.
DeleteI'm not a partisan or a campaign vehicle. To write a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly non-monetized blog, like my coffee, I write about what perks up in my agitated brain that day.
I simply cannot comprehend how so many people in this country support the absolute horror of this administration. Are their lives so miserable that they are okay with the idea of simply murdering people without proof? Of making insurance and food unavailable to those who need it?! There but for the grace of God go I but most of your readers are self righteous, pompous and heartless. I have often disagreed with you over the years, but I respect your candor.
ReplyDeleteKind of off-topic, but 7:06 needs to understand ending the current government shutdown is largely being delayed by Congressional Democrats who insist on continuing free medical care for illegal aliens. Maybe a future discussion for this this blog to understand.
DeleteMichael, what's up with Bogert's Bridge? How about the political gambit they call NIZ? How about the umpteenth remodel of Center Square or the other scores of issues about Allentown? That's the Michael I want to read.

ReplyDelete7:06 - Do you mean like when Obama KILLED the American CITIZEN with a drone strike in Afghanistan? Or are you talking about when Biden killed the UN aid worker and his family with a drone, and then falsely claimed that they were the people responsible for killing the 13 Marines when we were leaving Afghanistan?
Under the current administration you are only losing readers do to your constant criticism of the president. Under the previous administration myself and others were losing our right to speak when we were threaten with banning, or were banned from social media sites for merely expressing opinions or posting published commentary that question the approved federal narratives. Others were de-banked or lost their jobs for merely donating to causes or candidates. So in light of this, your self immolation of your readership is your choice and your right. Being silenced by those acting on behalf of the federal government is a far greater concern. One I am not sure you ever addressed at the time.
ReplyDeleteTrump is a compulsive, dotty, old man. He always spoke like a fourth grader, repeating things, seldom making full sentences. He lies and tries to believe those lies. Much of his day is spent in front of television screens. But he’s found out how to turn the White House into a commercial concern. He can claim a victory by bombing small boats, but its diversion from his big mistake, Epstein. Until he comes clean with the Epstein files. With the government closed he knows Epstein won’t be acted on. He doesn’t want Congress interfering with his plans to distract us further. Poor Mackenzie is figuring out he’s a short termer, he’s treading water with all his photo ops, even posing with local services he actually voted to defund. And yes, this all affects Allentown. The Republican Congress cares more about protecting Trump than it does about us.
ReplyDeleteanon@9:05: I find the Epstein issue a distraction from much more important issues. Trump was a certified womanizer, but that flaw was accepted by those who voted for him. I agree that Mackenzie need become less sycophantic to be re-elected.

9:05 - It’s the democrats who are keeping the government closed! Are you saying that Congressional Democrats are now working to help Trump and keep the “truth” from the American people?
I realize that it must be extremely difficult to keep the irrational lies of the democrat party straight, but surely you can do better than that.
If the republican party has the executive branch and a majority in the congress, it beggars belief for anyone to say that the democratic party is the party keeping the government closed. The simple fact is that the R's could open the government tomorrow with a very small amount of compromise, but the idea of compromise is less appealing to Mr. Trump and his followers than shutting down the government. It's called "owning the libs", which is a poor substitute for governing in a system where the winner does not get all of the chips.
Deleteanon@8:18: I suspect if I was questioning the actions of some Democrats, you would find me less "off topic."
ReplyDeleteanon@8:24 & Scott@8:45: There has always been covert operations which deviate from the rules of war. Not to further annoy you(s), but I will repress comments about Biden and past administrations, whether D or R....those really are "off topic."
I don’t think you need to worry about losing readers. Many Republican voters have found out that Trump fooled them in the last election. They are waking up to their mistake. A closed Congress is more like the first line supporters circling the wagons to protect the old guy who is more focused on a gold ballroom than Indiana beef farmers.
ReplyDeleteWe will have to see if this expedition in the Caribbean is a regime change operation or just establishing an area of influence. If it is indeed another U.S. regime change operation, I suspect it will be not only a negative for Trump, but for U.S. influence in the America's. There is great opportunity for the U.S. to improve its image in this hemisphere through diplomacy and mutual prosperity. A cooperative and mutually beneficial arrangement can be had, but gunboat diplomacy is a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteI’m not really seeing why Mackenzie should distance himself from Trump.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats are doubling down on their hatred of law enforcement, want criminal illegal aliens to roam freely in our cities, welcome socialist and communist extremists into their party, rob young people of their futures with their lack of fiscal self-control, and currently have the government shut down.
What kind of idiots would vote for that shit show?
