Allentown And Palestine

There was always a large Jewish presence in Jerusalem and other towns in Palestine. Although the Jewish population jumped with survivors of the Holocaust, Jews were there since biblical times. After the UN Partition of 1947/1948, Jews also came from Arab lands. Some came under their own volition, many others were forced out of their Arab homelands, by hostility to the creation of Israel.

Shown above is a $5 donation in 1932 by Schaffer and Max, to a Jewish institution in Jerusalem. They were located on 3th Street, the current Liberty Recycling. During the Depression, $5 was a lot more than it is now. Many Jewish families in Allentown put their spare change in a charity box for Palestine, and then Israel.

October 7th 2023 was a horror for Israel. However, I'm likewise distressed by the Netanyahu government response. Indisputable domicide in Gaza. Many others, with no attachment to Israel, are referring to genocide.

I'm not here to be polite

  1. In our modern world the left uses language creatively to fulfill the needs of their narrative du jour. Such is their use of "Genocide" to describe Israel's response to Gaza's monstrous attack two years ago. To be clear, if Israel wanted to conduct a genocide, "the deliberate and systematic destruction of a group of people because of their ethnicity, nationality, religion, or race." it certainly has the means and opportunity to do so. It didn't. Those who say they did are using the word genocide like the left now uses "Fascist, racists, xenophobe,..." casually as they fit deliberately ignoring it's true meaning. Because they say it, and repeat it ad nauseum doesn't make it so. In fact their is a term for this, "The big lie". The Nazi's, who really were Nazi's used exactly this technique to commit a real genocide against the Jews. Let us not insult the memory of nearly every European Jew by mimicking the left's self serving use of the word genocide.

  2. Scott@8:02: In my opinion, and my opinion as a Jew, Netanyahu has diminished the memory of the Holocaust. He did this by an excessive response, a view echoed by the IDF's top command. From 1948 until this last year, Israelis never had to defend their military's conduct.

  3. Maybe the Europeans will give Hamas a country of their own. That’s a stellar idea.

    Social media: Jew bad/Hamas good.

  4. It's it strange how everyone applies a different set of rules to the Jews, even other Jews?
