The Allentown Police caught heck for describing it as a small noose, and the FBI took over the investigation. We also ended up with a pricy Philadelphia law firm investigating the discrimination. I do not believe that the fabricator deserves incarceration, but isn't ARD for things smaller than attracting national news?
Likewise, she is allowed to remain on the school board, because after all she is not running for re-election. I would think that she should have the intuition to resign from the board, sorta of a right vs wrong example for the students... of course I live in another world from another time.

“There’s no such thing as bad publicity.”
ReplyDeleteASD director LaTarsha Brown was sentenced for what, by all accounts, was an attempt to fabricate a Hate Crime. If she had any integrity she would have resigned from the ASD board long ago in order to spare the district the shame of her wrongdoing. Clearly, by refusing to step down she has again demonstrated a lack of integrity. The shame of her actions is compounded by the total silence of her fellow board members who either through cowardice or apathy refuse to publicly demand she step down for the good of the district. Has the media as usual seems unconerned by corruption in the city, it is up the public to demand better, to demand accountability and accountability.
ReplyDeleteLovely example for the kids isn't it, a giant middle finger to decorum and integrity. So Allentown!
Delete“I'm not motivated to research the topic, but it seems the local legal system is buying into the wokeness of the incident... isn't ARD for things smaller than attracting national news?”
ReplyDeleteSpot-on commentary, Mike. No one is here for research, nuance or to question the crime-y-ness of “attracting national news.” They’re here to get their hit of outrage, to have their emotional reasoning validated. And you’ve delivered.
To think we were going to lose you Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays! Shudder.
Wow a Jessie Smolich clone. I think the old testament penalty for false accusations was appropriate, the penalty should be what the penalty would have been for a real perpetrator. Very simple and sadly it would stop a lot of false accusations, that seem to be just minimized when revealed.
ReplyDeleteShe is a poor example of who Allentown's employees should be and this incident is a poor example of the type of leadership needed in the City of Allentown. It reveals that the City's standards are continuing to drop and the decay is not yet complete to the point that the citizens are forced to do something about it. The City is still lead by the wrong people, hires the wrong people, elects the wrong people and fails to correct a problem when one is identified. The poor municipal leadership and the failure of the body politic goes on. Her ARD may identify and cure her deficiencies. However, until and unless that cure is successfully completed, it is irresponsible of leadership to allow her to be in positions of responsibility that will affect the lives and governance of her fellow citizens.
ReplyDeleteI may hold a minority opinion but I think this woman is perfect for the ASD Board and will remain as an excellent representative of the current administration in City Hall even as she has moved on to new adventures.
DeleteI cannot believe she is still in either position!
DeleteLatarsha Brown has indeed been sentenced. I cut her some slack in the months past because I viewed it as a process, she may not have done it. However, she did do it. She should step down immediately, but again, no integrity. But we live in odd times. Remember, we have a convicted felon in the highest office in the land. Again, no integrity.
ReplyDeleteThe “convicted felon” POTUS has followed through on more campaign promises than any President in living memory. He may well be in line for the Noble Peace Prize….so there’s that.
DeleteConvicting the Orange Devil of a ginned up felony didn’t stop working Americans from electing him.
Maybe a third attempt on his life will yield a satisfying outcome for you.
If you’re looking for a lack of “integrity” in national politics you might consider the farcical 2016 Democratic Convention (I was there) or the fact that the Democratic nominee in the last election was installed without gaining so much a a single primary election vote.
DeleteAs for the ethical integrity of the Clinton and Biden families the record is clear and hardly requires additional comment.
Full disclosure: I spent my life until 2016 as an active D. I reregistered Independent with I returned home from the Philadelphia convention.

Mike I left this article for you to write. I dont agree with Brown's actions, but this just shows you the working environment employees are in that they would go to such measures to get attention. Did anyone really ask her why she did this? Are things that bad working in city hall? I see the signs pointing to yes.
ReplyDeleteThings may be bad in city hall but her own actions surely reveal she was part of the problem. LaTarsha likely hope to get a huge settlement as compensation for working in such a hostile climate, one she herself worked to inflame.
DeleteThese are the questions that need to be asked. Why did she do it? We already know that the city is being sued by multiple previous employees and went without an HR department for a long time. Release the Curtis files!
DeleteIt would seem obvious that this individual has serious mental health issues complicated by racism.
DeleteAbe@9:44: With both our blogs being Allentown centric, I expect we'll often be covering the same topic, which is much better than no alternative coverage. Please consider adding a blog link to Molovinsky on your sidebar.
