Subscribers to this blog know that I don't think much of Trump's nominations to his cabinet and other posts. There was one exception, local wiz Jared Isaacman's appointment to NASA. Isaacman, in addition to being a business genius, is a space geek. Trump has withdrawn Isaacman's nomination, because apparently the geek has described himself as a moderate, and has contributed to candidates from both parties.
Trump's obsession with those that kiss his ring has cast his presidency as flawed since before day one. Trump is to be given credit for closing the border, but everything since has been way too impulsive for my liking, and for good governance.
Trump will be studied in the future not by political scientists, but by psychology majors, studying narcissism.
Since it is Pride Month I am going to keep it simple and get right to my biggest regret concerning the Donald J. Trump administration. The loss of a towering public servant and roll model in the person of Dr. Rachel Levine leaves a vacuum that just can’t be filled.
ReplyDeleteNothing I could say about this wonderful woman and Pennsylvanian could possibly be enough so I will just leave it there. And a Happy Pride Month to our our fellow LGBTQ PLUS community members. You will never be erased.
anon@2:48: I wrestled with printing. your comment, because I don't want wit labeled as homophobia. I agree that Levine was a very contrived pick, taking away from the credentials of a Pete Buttigieg. Just as nominations should be color blind, they should be gender blind. However, with the current controversy in California with the trans high school athlete, the situation, while a mine field and off topic on this post, is fair game for another blog post.
ReplyDelete“Trump is to be given credit for closing the border, but everything since has been way too impulsive for my liking, and good governance.“
ReplyDeleteSo after this weekend’s flamethrower/Molotov cocktail attack by an illegal immigrant on Jewish Americans gathered to remember the Hamas hostages, what pace would you prefer Trump moves at regarding deportations/removals?
You didn’t see it on MSNBC or CNN, but the previous four years saw thousands of military-age men - not families - crossing the border. They are here for a reason.
The problem with what Trump is doing is not that he’s moving too fast, it’s that things are going too slow. Even if the democrats would cooperate and the courts would stop with their frivolous injunctions, the pace of deportations isn’t going fast enough.
We are going to be hit by a MAJOR attack by some of those who are here illegally. It’s not a matter of if, but when.
I don't know where the idea came from that presidents are supposed to appoint personnel that may not be on board with their policies. Trump in particular learned from experience that if they are not part of the team they will be very dangerous.
ReplyDeleteIn his first term, he had no knowledge and assumed that picking retired military was picking patriotic Americans, he soon found out that those who rise to the top are usually bureaucratic bobble heads first.
Usually their goal is not to implement but to slow, or sabotage, while this may not apply to your person in question, we should understand why Trump is unwilling to gamble in the politised era.
anon@6:49: I gave Trump credit for closing the border, and ICE was discussed in yesterday's post.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people are upset about the situation in Gaza. Trump's claims that neither Gaza or Ukraine would not have happen if he was president was nonsense. His claim to solve both issues on day one was nonsense.
I would like to see. him putting pressure on Netanyahu and Putin, but he's choosing not to.
Comments to this post should address Trump's cabinet.
The Biden family connection to the NATO/Biden/Harris proxy war against Russia is a matter of public record, and no amount of revisionist rhetoric changes the facts.
Deletemj adams
Putin invaded Ukraine.
DeleteI don’t have a problem with him pulling the nomination. These are PRESIDENTIAL appointments, and I want them to be in line with the president we elected.
ReplyDeleteI’d much rather have Isaacman pulled now if there is a problem, rather than having either Trump or Isaacman distracted from getting NASA back on track later.
So far, it seems to be relatively cordial on both sides, with no mud-slinging. I’m fine with that.
The Deep State (can any rational human being doubt that an entrenched bureaucracy exists?) sunk the Orange One in his first term, to state the obvious fact .
ReplyDeleteHe clearly has the capacity for learning to adjust.
The Biden administration hardly requires a comment. It speaks for itself.
Could be wrong, but I think it was more a pay back for Musk's comments about the Orange ONe's "Great Big Beautiful Bill", since he was his associate. His pettiness and ego will always take precedent over any good for our country.
ReplyDeleteThe Real Estate Guy from Queens had no signature war during his presidency. A bit of petulance is a small price to pay.
DeleteRegardless of what one thinks about Trumps faults and foibles, and there’s plenty, he is one of the most consequential POTUSs post-WWII.
Remember how Obama, Palosi, and the Hollywood elites laughed at him?
Mayor Pete was an unmitigated disaster as Secretary of Transportation. He was a purely political choice. His experience with transportation relied on his less than effective filling of potholes in nowheresville and the fact that he married his husband in an airport. He loves airports. You couldn’t make this stuff up.
ReplyDeleteDo fact check.
(Is Mayor Pete a bright fella? Yes, he is, with twice the wattage of the career hack, Jo Bi Din or his crackling, witless, V.P.)
It rally doesn’t matter if we (Isaacman’s neighbors) think Isaacman is perfect for the job. All that matters is what Trump decides. I admire Isaacman and am proud of what he has achieved. But, this is Trump’s call. I fully support that, too!
ReplyDeleteBiden had plenty of clowns in his intersectional circus.
ReplyDeletePlenty.
The more significant issue left to be addressed is who precisely was running the government as Joe Biden transitioned from simple incompetence into senility?
Consider this as the complaints accumulate regarding Trumps principal staff choices; could it be that Hunter Biden, degenerative drug addict, and Dr. Jill we the most powerful people on the planet?
Trump’s cabinet selections express his affinity for Fox tv. Get some face time on Fox and you might get in, or even get a make-up room adjacent to your new office. Trump’s new portrait is another visual reminder that this guy thinks he’s playing a character, the tough guy, similar to his North Korean counterpart. It does show his much improved hair color. Since he hasn’t had the influence he thinks he had on Putin, or the European Union, and since he hasn’t ended the Gaza problem on day 1, i suspect he feels the need to remind his domestic subjects that he’s one tough strawberry blonde. TACO has reminded us that it’s all for show. Playing with your 501K again shows us what negative influence he can have on us here. This guy was always a fraud. Now we’re making him richer than ever, and a do-nothing Congress is helping him all the way to the bank. Isaacman was real, but not good enough tv. Back to Fox for a new appointee.
ReplyDeleteI’m nostalgic for the halcyon days of the Biden era. Joe Biden was a man’s man. He will go down in history as one of the great leaders of the last 100 years. President Biden surrounded himself with brilliant people, and the results are there for the entire world to see.
ReplyDeletePresident Biden didn’t need Fox News to burnish his reputation as a strong, resourceful, exemplary giant on the world stage.
Biden's cabinet? Who were they working for? Surely not Joe as it has been confirmed he was there but not there, know what I mean? They were good at one thing, keeping their mouths shut about their "Weekend At Bernie's" situation as cabinet ministers.
DeleteI understand that Elon Musk decided to leave because several of the cabinet secrataries did not get along with him at all. It was reported that Musk and Treasury Secratary Scott Bessent exchanged punches in the Oval Office during an arguement while meeting with Trump
ReplyDeleteMusk had a black left eye for about a week after the incident. He didn't post anything on his twitter account either for about a month before he left.
I also understand some of the Tesla board od directors wanted to fire Musk as they don't like Trump and said Musk working for Trump was causing sales of Tesla to drop significantly
Really???? A man's man??? What planet are you on as it surely is NOT this one! You are either a troll (likely paid...) or blind, deaf and dumb, sorry to say. Old Joe didn't seem to be up to snuff from the get-go. While I certainly don't agree with all of PDJT's agenda, he is certainly on the right track. It says much about the GOPee that they didn't try to thwart Biden half as much as the liberal progs are working against DJT. I left the democrats years ago and I'm ready to leave the republicans presently. It's ALL the "go along to get along" political system so they can ALL feather their nest eggs at our expense... WAKE UP, folks! That is the only way to explain how they become (multi) millionaires in such short order. Prove me wrong, PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between picking someone who agrees with your agenda and someone who is just incompetent. That sums up Trump‘s cabinet, incompetence.
