As a conservative independent, when not casting my vote for an independent, it more often than not goes to the Republican candidate. While my disillusionment with Trump occurred early in his term, any defense of him completely expired on January 6th, 2021.
While I take heart in Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and Mike Pence, the RNC Salt Lake winter proclamation defending January 6th can only hurt the party in 2022 and 24. Hopefully, by their spring meeting, they will be more Republican, and less Trumpican.
Trump didn't win the election in 2020, and likewise he wouldn't win in 2024. However, there is a backlash to the progressive Democratic programs now occurring. The Defund The Police mentality has turned the urban cores into a lawless jungle. The endless stimulus payments have a negative effect on the economy. There are real opportunities for rational Republicans to prevail. However, supporting Trump's delusions is not rational.
I suppose Republican candidates feel that they can walk the tightrope to win primaries in the spring, and then move more toward the middle for November. They are overestimating themselves, and underestimating the voters.
Also an Independent. Disappointed by your assessment of what occurred on January 6. I have studied that matter extensively and viewed all of it live using various independent media sources. President Trump was not directly involved in managing that incident as it happened, nor did his live remarks encourage what went down.
ReplyDeletePlease keep an open mind as details trickle out. Independent media sources are doing an excellent job but are being censored.
Regardless, support for President Trump remains very high. The contrast between his accomplishments and the cabal in control now is stark and average families are experiencing it firsthand. They’re not at all happy.
Besides, we still don’t know if President Trump will actually be the candidate for President.
Thank you for posting my 7:36 comment!
ReplyDeleteWe are living through a most unusual time in our history. A time when it is almost impossible to get accurate news accounts. So much is being hidden.
To follow-up, I do not believe President Trump will be the eventual candidate. But, if he is, I will certainly vote for him again. But, the matter of election integrity is a real concern. That’s a topic of its own, for sure, and so, continued censorship.
By the way, I am still a full, 50+ year subscriber to the Morning Call. I just don’t go there for truth any longer. Too much political disinformation is put out. Sad.
I believe the use of gallows at the J6 protest was in poor taste, perhaps more appropriate would have been a ducking stool set up by the reflecting pool where the VP could have been punished in a non lethal way for his treasonous disloyalty to #DJT. That being said my tickets to CPAC are reserved looking forward to hear what the true #46 has to say about the upcoming months, MAGA!
ReplyDeleteWhat the politicians on both sides should be doing is seeking new, qualified, and electable candidates, rather than rehashing past office holders. There must be someone else in this Country that is lucid, believable, and competent to run on both party platforms without serving up the left-overs in the fridge.
ReplyDeleteToday I read an article about university of Penn having a Biden affiliation since before the pandemic. That said both sides are sellouts of human interests going for the almighty declining American dollar. Like allentowns downtown district sellouts to socialism and I will even go as far as to say communism.
ReplyDelete7:36 & 9:07 - Trump is NOT "President" so stop saying that as it shows your cult loyalty! He's a career liar, tax cheat & grifter. He's the worst person to ever hold that office. He was directly involved and it will be brought to light, even with him burning papers, his own words are his downfall!
ReplyDeleteTrump LOST the House, Presidency AND Senate. Suspended by Twitter and FB. PGA bumped his clubs. Banks cut ties. Charity shut down. Corporate America steers clear. Company and CFO indicted. Lost 65 post-election lawsuits. He fears being a loser. But if HE'S not a loser, WHO IS?
ReplyDeleteFor better or worse those who rise to the top of the political heap are put there by us. There are of course much better people out there than what ends up on the ballot. For many sound reasons they choose not to run. This said, it is a mistake to assume the choices we have made are done so by the gullible and ill informed. That is simply not the case. I have been surprised many times by who is supporting who in primaries and general elections. Then consider this; our politics always reflects our culture, therefore, it is a safe assumption politics is merely reflecting us. This takes me back to why good people don't run for office, it's just too ugly.
