Bill White Loses His Mind

Bill White wrote that there were tears running down his cheek during Oprah's speech on the Golden Calf Awards. At first I thought that he was kidding, but as I read on I realized that he was serious.
                   She’s smart. She’s eloquent, She’s compassionate. She’s classy.
It would be a nice change.
I think that perhaps he should just start wearing a pink hat while he's at it.  It wasn't that many years ago that a Morning Call reporter lost his job for being the grand Marshall in a Gay Pride Parade.  Reporters could always get away with slanting the news, but they were not supposed to be the news. They were not suppose to wear their politics on their sleeves.

The award show itself deserves an award for hypocrisy.  Spare me the pretty boys and girls dressed in black. Spare me the delusional grandiosity. It is an industry based largely on sex, both appeal and fantasy.   Spare me, but thank you for the Halle Berry's with their peek- a -boo dresses, but in black of course.

Bill White thinks that Oprah would make a good president.  What a gift her candidacy would be for the Republicans come 2020.

  1. If that is all democrats have in 2020, they are in much trouble. Obviously Bill White, who always leaned left, is now admitting his partisan political preference.

    1. So what? Isn't he entitled to his opinion just as you are so vehemently are stating yours? Just because you don't agree doesn't mean he's wrong. And if you think the current "leader"is representing our ENTIRE Country then you're as deluded as you think Bill White is...

  2. fire@7:52, white is beside himself about trump, thus my pink hat reference. i suppose as a columnist he has more latitude to express his political opinions than a reporter. however, it is my opinion that white has actually been also performing as an editor at the paper.

  3. Mr White may have gone off the deep end I do believe. Now, it must be a strange feeling to have hoards of people in a friendly audience screaming for you to become the President of the United States, and certainly Oprah Windfrey is hearing that siren song.

Remember that Ms Windfrey is a smart businesswoman and will realize shortly that she will alienate about half the country if she announces her candidacy. She depends on her popularity to draw viewers to her television network, read her magazine, and her other endeavors.

My guess is that she will remember which side of the bread her butter goes on and instead of running for office, she will endorse one of the Democratic front runners and stay out of the spotlight.

  5. Given the current widespread belief that wealthy people are wiser and more entitled to special status than the rest of us, I'm not sure why Oprah Winfrey would be a single step down. At least she's had fewer businesses go bankrupt and employs people besides her own family members.

  6. I agree Geoff. Oparh should run if she wants to lose half or more of her consumers. I wonder how well she would do though against Elizabeth Warren and other Democrats in the primaries.

  7. Just imagine Oprah's platform... "Vote for me or else you're a racist misogynist." She's a race baiter just like Obama and Michelle
