Allentown, Pawlowski and Molovinsky

When I started this blog over ten years ago, one of the things that motivated me was the direction Allentown would be going in under Pawlowski.  The Morning Call writes today that Pawlowski began his political career defeating William Heydt in 2005 for mayor.  There was actually a third candidate, an independent,  also on the ballot that year.

Although, The Morning Call denied me equal coverage,  I held underreported and unreported news conferences on what would become Allentown's most pressing problems in the coming years.  While the paper held interviews and debates with seven Democratic primary candidates this year, they claimed that three was too many when they excluded me from their sponsored debate in 2005.

Back in this blog's earliest beginnings,  I was a chorus of one.  Even bloggers Bernie O'Hare and Chris Casey assumed that the issues I was raising were just sour grapes on my part.

I will not be reporting on the nuts and bolts of the indictment.  To me it's already old news.  I will be reprinting some of my early posts.   Despite the tone of this post,  I take no satisfaction with the current events.  Despite all these new buildings, Allentown has been depreciated over the last ten years.  Our center city streets have become danger zones.  Our schools are failing.  Even our famous parks are falling apart.

Below is a reprinted post from June of 2007.

  1. MM, now we can have a reel Republican on the ballot in November that has edited out just like you than, Luis Garza. He was not only edited out by local news but also by the ones doing the editing in this general area, the courts. I am also sure judging from his demeanor as well as his stature he will never join the circus carnival as its whole make-up lacks integrity!
I have redd the two reel media outlets first this morning because I want to read something without subliminal sales pitches and party favors offerd.

  2. They're all innocent. Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich comes to mind.

  3. george@7:54, i'll leave your erroneous comment stand as a springboard.

Luiz Garcia was given fair coverage by the paper. He was not removed by the challenge/court. besides the straight party pull voter advantage, I consider party affiliation philosophically irrelevant on the local level. although hyman switched from democratic to republican, his career background is actually more aligned with republicans.

I believe that garcia has a bright future politically, but he is handicapping himself running as a republican in allentown.

    1. Republican is not a handicap, just look at the finer edicacies in the historic dress code as you are a historical too! Just look at the tie and even a simpleton like myself can tell a reel D from a R!
