The Obama Cult

Obama gave a very good performance at the Correspondents Dinner, he did everything but sing and dance. Of course it was an audience that loves him, the press. The ultra liberal Huffington reported each separate quip in a separate article. The left gushed that he bashed the entire Republican field. What a performance, but, unfortunately, he's President. In that role, objectively, things aren't going so well. We  now have a Middle East policy that's only reactive at best. While terrorism is becoming more and more widespread, he still wants to close Guantanamo Bay, and afford our enemies an OJ defense in NYC. While he himself now calls The Affordable Care Act Obama-Care, and considers it his legacy, doctors are retiring in record numbers, because of the paperwork and reduced compensation. His support is based on personality, not on performance; That is his true legacy.

  1. All partisans will support whomever they've voted in to office, few are going to stand back and assess their candidate / elected official objectively. It's also possible to enjoy President Obama's performance at the Correspondents' Dinner and still not approve of every aspect of his administration's policies. Liberals think Obama's foreign policies are a disaster; and so do Conservatives. There are liberal Jews who vehemently disagree with the President's policies.
I support the idea of a Single Payer- a government program that essentially mimics Medicare. I knew Obamacare was going to be a hot mess- it was obvious that it was only going to benefit the insurance industry from the beginning. Electronic Record Keeping initiatives have provoked some retirements, but still, but the continued lack of Tort Reform actually started that process in many states, including Pennsylvania which now has a serious physician shortage. An analytically-inclined person can look at many sides of this complex picture, and that is another issue: voters are too aligned with political parties. Are Black Americans really better off since the Obama Administration began? Are Jewish Americans? Are Latinos?

  2. Obamas primary platform consisted of universal healthcare and a new approach to our ME policy. Specifically, no more playing global police department. The American people had the opportunity to go with the status quo or Obama and they chose Obama. Twice. He had a larger popular vote that Bush, Reagan or Clinton and the largest electoral split in 24 years.

The American people have spoken and the majority of voters chose Obama. Enjoy those sour grapes.

  3. The Affordable Care Act (ACA or Obamacare) was a lie, they lied to us about its goal of providing care to the 40 million uninsured, they lied to us about keeping our plan and doctors, and they lied to us about the costs going down. We are now stuck with a health plan that will be more expensive as the years pass and provide fewer services and still more than 40 million Americans will not have health insurance. ACA’s planned failure is the ploy to move us to a Single Payer (Communist) system and finally achieve what the Socialists have been trying to achieve for over 80 years - Government Control of Our Healthcare. Once that final phase is completed we will be subject to the whims of bureaucrats. We have seen the IRS used against political enemies and in the last few years we have seen the EPA and even SWAT teams used against political enemies now imagine when they are able to deny care due to your political or religious beliefs.

A free market plan would have been to allow insurance companies to do business anywhere in the United States. If a government solution were to be the only option then a Medicare type plan targeted to provide affordable coverage for the uninsured and for people with pre-existing conditions and would have left the 90% of us that had insurance alone would have been cheaper and limit government interference in our lives.

  4. Mike,

You hit the nail on the head. Obama head the opportunity of a lifetime to unite the country and take it to MLK's post racial endgame. Instead we have what we have and Obama and his team fueling the flames. Sad very sad.
Obama is driven by a partisan obsession to obliterate all opposition, this has crippled his ability to move legislation and the result is the shredding of the constitution. This is no small thing. As well his ignorance of the real motives of Liberalism's enemies will undermine the future of our children and grandchildren. That will be his real legacy. But if you hate Republicans, maybe that's enough.

  5. Steven,

State run health care is only affordable, (even if you can print money) by rationing service. This results in lavish care for the birthing moms but little to no testing for seniors. The results are what they are and I have seen it with my own eyes. Conversely,my mothers' sister at 84 had surgery for a condition that never would have diagnosed in state run system. She can expect to live another 5 to 10 years. That means the world to her and it was her choice.
