Boat Ramp Launching

Mayor Pawlowski and other City Dignitaries will officially launch the Ott Street Boat Ramp this coming Friday afternoon. The Ramp will provide safe entry for canoes, kayaks and other motor-less watercraft into the Cedar Park flood basin. Permits are required and may be obtained at the Park Office, 3000 Parkway Blvd. The City wishes to again thank the Trexler Trust for it's generosity for this monstrosity.

Those familiar with both this blog and Cedar Park, realize that the boat ramp shown above is actually the new paved path from Ott Street into the former passive west side of Cedar Park. This monstrosity will link the recreational and special event festivals, traditionally limited to the Cedar Beach Pool side of the park, with the rose gardens. The new wide paved paths will accommodate vehicles necessary to facilitate the events. Welcome to the Park Without Limits.

  1. Incredible.

What does it take to get people to listen in this town?

Soon Allentown will be able to film it's own version of "Swamp People".

  5. Well, the suckers bought the Sham Wow.

    What more can one say.

    CHAIRPERSON,
NOT IMPRESSED WITH "PARK IMPROVEMENTS" COMMITTEE

Do the bike trails connect with this?

For the record, I fully support and encourage underwater bike trails.

  6. Mr. Molovinsky,
Can't place this photo. Would you mind telling us where it was taken?
If you get a chance maybe today you would run past Cedar Beach to see if it isn't flooding again.

  7. anon 11:25, the photo shows the new path leading from ott street down into the west side of cedar park, where it joins the existing loop path. the picture was taken last week after the big rain, so the existing path is covered with water. the new path in photo is halfway between hamilton and parkway blvd., on the west side of ott., exactly opposite from the road into cedar beach pool.

  8. Polluted Waters:
Could this be our city's future?
(Oct. 5) -- Hungary is in a state of emergency and at least three people have died from a toxic sludge that is flooding the area around Ajka, 100 miles southwest of Budapest. The red mud, which poured out of a containment pond at an aluminum plant, contains heavy metals that are toxic if ingested and that can burn through skin, The Associated Press reports.

  9. Thank you for the photo location.

  10. Suspect the boat ramp is flooded again today with the constant rain.

  11. Mike, I hope the fact that you omitted scuba diving from the list of activities was merely an oversight on your part.

If you think the bike lobby is powerful, wait until you see the divers in action.

  12. The pool @ Cedar Crest College might lend their in water bicycle exercisers to his honor, if he asks real nice.

  13. Anon 4:19,

Perhaps, but does the Scuba Lobby have BETTER REFRESHMENTS to offer than the all-powerful Bike Lobby - that is real question at hand.

That and, if scuba diving is NOT permitted, will Mayor Pawlowski's wife be sending out more emails again explaining to people that children holding signs play well for the Main Stream Media?

  14. Anon 419, for refreshments scuba divers drink Red Stripe beer. How's that stack against the bikers' refreshment of choice?

  15. Red Stripe stacks up quite well, as a matter of fact.

I am pretty certain that the all-powerful Bike Lobby only drinks granola-based products. In spandex.

No wonder they wear crash helmets.

Since the passive nature as originally intended by General Trexler has been effectively and literally bulldozed by resume-building bureaucrats at City Hall, the Committtee is determined to deploy all energies towards championing genuinely worthy causes.

In other words, the Committee is sufficiently impressed - now, exactly what do scuba divers need?

Battling incessant oppression and combating naked racism is our specialty...

  16. Mike,

I walk in the park most days of the week and I see pedestrians use this entrance and the one further up Ott st toward Hamilton regularly. I do not see many bike riders on these paths and those that I do have been respectful of the walkers.

on the other hand, your headline is pretty funny.
