Lehigh County Business As Usual

I've never been to the Lehigh Country Club, it has always been the bastion of the local blue bloods. My blogging associate from Nazareth is in his final sprint to bloody the waters against Scott Ott. Although I don't have his affinity for promoting candidates, fairness requires some balance in the blogosphere. Tom Muller's fundraiser was held at the country club. His campaign contributor list is a who's who of Business As Usual in the valley. The big contractors/developers are all there; Butz, Boyle, Marcon, and Perucci. The law/accounting firms are there; McCarthy, Sorrentino and Portnoff. In this world, overlooking the golf course, donations are either $2,500 or $5,000. The voters next week will have a choice between accountability to the taxpayer, or business as usual.

What's most disappointing is that we have to choose between these two. This is the best we could come up with? Muller, who answers to the elites, or Ott, who answers to Woodman and Scheller?

My greatest hope is the elected candidate does as little damage as possible.

i do not believe that woodman and scheller have an agenda beyond fiscal conservatism in lehigh county. although they are guilty of being wealthy, it's only the envious who assume that they have ulterior motives. i do not believe that ott and schware are puppets. i'm not concerned about wealthy people in the auto paint pigment business (scheller) giving money to ott. those suspicious types should concern themselves with a $5,000 donation to tom muller, by the wife of computer company executive, who specializes in contracts with local government.

Doesn't matter. The fact is, Ott is beholden to them. You may be right, they may not have any agenda other than fiscal conservatism. For now.

What if that changes? Ott is their puppet, and by extension Schware.

The fact also is that, right or wrong, Muller raised money from a group of people. Ott hasn't raised anything.

I don't like either of them, but I like Ott less.

@12:56, if that's your logic, i would rather have an executive "beholden" to a couple with a business that has no connection or even possible connection with county government, than someone like muller, who accepted donations from the usual hopefuls for county business.

My dismay with that whole bunch is that they took over the county republican party and have completely alienated the city wing. The city faction was having enough problems without completely having the rug pulled out from under them. The city committee is all but dead without the county party umbrella.Wait until you see the city republican registration numbers against his vote totals. This race could go either way based on turnout.

Who can I donate to so I can buy a job or no bid contract worth a million dollars with Lehigh County?
