Black Friday

Once a upon a time, Allentown didn't have the benefit of current regulations. City Hall didn't have the vision it does now; they just let the merchants put up large neon signs without extensive guidelines and approval procedures. We didn't have the benefit of a Parking Authority; Allentown Park and Shop, one of the first in the nation, irresponsibly gave free parking just to encourage business. We didn't have the benefit of a remote Lanta Terminal; shoppers and buses clogged the street and sidewalks. Prosperity is over-rated, appreciate today's vision in The City Without Limits; Bon Appetit.

  2. All city and / or quasi-legal agencies ending with "AUTHORITY" serves to destroy rather than to strenghten our once great city.
This wrong is compounded by the unbridled compensation provided for particular individuals currently and previously employed by these same authorities.

  3. Please consider opening a discussion on the mayor's proposal to dissolve
the AEDC. Also, apparently yet another shooting in downtown Allentown this morning.

  5. anon 2:32, i would be willing to host a short paragraph about lights in the parkway, but not an entire press release.

  6. anon 6:58 aka permission to post, i would host a few sentences, but not an entire morning call article off topic. yes, although run down properties may be purchased for 40k, it doesn't mean that all six, if any, were run down. the 500k referred to rebuilt or replace prices, which are always higher than purchase price.

  7. Anon 2:03 -

I've only heard of plans to dissolve the Allentown Redevelopment Authority - not the AEDC.

Are you sure about the AEDC?
