Bill White essentially does as he is expected to do- he wants to remain in his job. As someone who embraces the Wehr's Dam historic value, I am not one bit shocked that creative editing was used to underscore the point that MC wanted to sell to it's tax-shy readership. Look at the overall condition of the region's parks..visit Bogert's bridge (before it collapses). Take photos..because that is all we will have, after this is over. Why would they print an article today, and not mention the economical, simple repair option? Bill White bought into the Wildlands nonsense, and they have adopted his take.michael molovinskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12581039755319742687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-951782330457966647.post-88649752365432377412016-10-31T07:43:11.045-04:002016-10-31T07:43:11.045-04:00Why would the Call choose such a crappy picture of...Why would the Call choose such a crappy picture of the dam?Monkey Mommahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00810902920873689184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-951782330457966647.post-20933294804245951562016-10-31T06:29:06.283-04:002016-10-31T06:29:06.283-04:00ray@6:04, yes, the state rates it as low-hazard, ...ray@6:04, yes, the state rates it as low-hazard, meaning that it poses no danger to people or private property. the Wildlands Conservancy is allowed to keep 15% of grants for administrative costs. So far, they used a $259K grant on a study to promote its demolition. they will use another grant for demolition, probably a week after next weeks vote. the morning call has also tried to help the Wildlands on its mission. an article today doesn't even mention the first option of simple repair. the township spent more on the study to justify the referendum, than the repair would have cost.michael molovinskyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12581039755319742687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-951782330457966647.post-59517595716348267472016-10-31T06:04:08.382-04:002016-10-31T06:04:08.382-04:00As you have said, the dam will be there long after...As you have said, the dam will be there long after everyone reading this column will be long gone, just let it alone. As for danger , most of this dam is filled with soil above the dam, if in a 100 years it should break out, it does not pose a risk to anyone. Also there are no salmon or fish that are trying to navigate past the dam so the only answer must be that someone is going to get a lucrative contract one way or the other.Ray Nemeth Srhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08408009881636716591noreply@blogger.com
