Well, before long we might not have to worry about 'affordable housing' at all. With the signing of the Big Beautiful Bill we are about to see the early deaths of millions of people.....he said facetiously, :)
Please talk about the influx of out of staters to our parks. And how the Mayor and Police Chief does not do anything to stop them from littering, drinking alcohol and polluting the water ways
A great first podcast. I am looking forward to more informed commentary.
I would like to hear a discussion on how the city grant money is being saved for friends, family, and loyalists to the mayor and his cabinet. How is it that the CED director has a non-profit that receives grant money? How is it that those linked to the Mayor via Ripple, CALV, and others receive special grants? The city employees should be required to follow the Ethics Code and disclose their financial information interests in the community.
That goes for the Council members and their slum lord properties they control. Sounds to me like the know nothing Finance Director is not properly watching out for the city finances, nor is the elected Controller.
anon@6:01: It is not apparent to me that anything is inappropriate about Kistler's involvement with this organization, especially since it has been operating for over thirty five years. However, I will leave comment 2:02 up.
Great pod cast !! Looking forward to hearing more on quality of life issues in city. I have noticed the influx of people using our streams and parks , on July 4 the Lehigh parkway looked like family reunion, I counted 25 cars lined on walking paths. Plus tables and loud music , people drinking open bottles of beer , I remember as teenagers if we parked down and were drinking, cops were there to confiscate our beer. And tell us to leave the park ! Now there is no police NOTING being done at all. It’s big free for all !! What is mayor doing about this problem!! Fountain park is same way ! This problem starts and ends with mayor !!
Good first show.
ReplyDeleteFor a future show, I’d love to hear a discussion about “affordable housing” efforts by the city.
To me, if Allentown has the highest poverty rate in the city it likely already has too much “affordable housing”.
Wouldn’t competent city policy be trying to do things to correct the poverty numbers before trying to add more “affordable housing”?

DeleteBrilliant post. In my 70+ years, I have never heard it put so well.

anon@2:02: For this comment to remain, you'll have to post some specifics, i.e what non-profit does Vicky Kistler(CED) have?
