The Vilification of Julian Stolz

For someone so young, Julian has been through the wringer in the last two days. Although he has announced his resignation from the East Penn School Board this afternoon, the storm will continue through the week. I had no intention to write about this, but an off topic comment about Scott Armstrong, on an Allentown nostalgia website, brings me to this post. Although the public complains about school taxes, it can't abide conservative school board members. Although teachers conduct workshops about tolerance and bullying, they want to lynch any school board member who dares question any of their motives. As for Julian, he's a 25 year old man dating a 20 year old woman. Because of his conservative views, his activities from five years ago have now been misconstrued as current events. Likewise, Scott Armstrong has been misrepresented in his dealings with fellow board members, teachers and students. When you write that check out for school taxes, don't blame Stolz and Armstrong.

Minimizing Stolz's abhorrent conduct is a form of enabling, shame on you. Perhaps if you had children you would think differently.

Good post. Good points! You and Bernie are the only ones that can really see the big picture. It is unbelievable how this story about J. Stolz got blown out of proportion. And yet, tonight we still don't have a budget or an operating Federal Government. It is like the novel 1984. These are the crumbs that are thrown to us, to keep us occupied, instead of seeing the big picture.

It is not that uncommon today for these age differences to exist in dating relationships.

Perhaps Julian Stolz had a lapse in judgement that he could learn from but some in the community decided to take this opportunity to villafy him as you have stated.

Often the perceived evil fear of conservatives exists only in their heads. The current give away approach to the economy cannot last and they know it. It is called killing the messenger.

The greatest enemy of the ASD is the teachers union. This union has become a pariah of the school district.

They will go to any length to insure their financial security including thuggish behavior and the exploitation of students for political purposes.

They also turn a blind eye to the inability of many younger teachers to firmly define appropriate boundaries with students, many of whom mistakenly perceive their students as their peers socially and sexually.

@7:46, although i have observed some intolerant behavior toward school board members in allentown, much of it is orchestrated by a cyberstalker, who has a hidden agenda, which is unrelated to education. furthermore, i have no knowledge that inappropriate boundaries is an issue in allentown.

No one was criticizing Stolz for dating a 20 year old. You have your facts wrong. It was the fat he began dating her when she was 15, a student at Emmaus High while he sat on that school board. If Dateline NBC had caught him he'd have been arrested just for the contact.

PA anonymous@10:09, there has been quite a blur between facts and perception with this story. the fact is that they had a friendship five years ago, and that he broke it off before anything inappropriate occurred. the perception, mainly from the Morning Call, is that a 25 year old School Board member is dating high school girls. the conjectures in your last sentence typify that sort of distortion.

Why all the fuss? After all, Stolz was only a 20-year old kid dating a 15 year-old kid. At least that's what Obama and Democrats would say, given their decision to allow 'kids' up through age 26 to stay on mommy and daddy's insurance plan......at the expense of their employer, that is.
