The Transfiguration of Ed Pawlowski

This post was going to be entitled the Transformation of Allentown, but I think the new title is more appropriate. Last week, in the State of the City Address, Mayor for Life Ed Pawlowski once again touted the Transformation. Although the long term benefit of the arena project remains to be seen, light has surely been emitting from our unchallenged leader. His press agents, Scott Kraus and Matt Assad of The Morning Call, paste up the Transformation Gospel on a regular basis. Scrutiny of the project rests mostly with this blog. Last week, Precious Petty of The Express Times, did quote Jeanette Eichenwald's doubts about some aspects of the arena project. Perhaps Pawlowski's richest statement last week was that arena project involved collective sacrifice. I doubt if he was referring to the displaced merchants, or the children who will not be receiving insurance benefits from the CHIP program this year, because the cigarette tax is being used for Reilly's debt service.

  1. MIKE, YOU EEP MENTIONING PAWLOWSKI, MAYOR FOR EVER, THAT WOULD END IF COUNCILWOMAN EICHENWALD WOULD BECOME A CANDIDATE FOR MAYOR IN THIS YEARS PRIMARY. SHE WOULD GET THE VOTES OF THE DEMOCRATS THAT SIGNED THE PETITIONS AGAINST THE SALES OF WATER AND SEWER SERVICES, PLUS THOUSANDS THAT DO NOT SUPPORT THIS MAYOR.

  2. @6:58, perhaps you should phone mrs. eichenwald, ask her to run, and donate money for such a campaign; at least volunteer to work tirelessly on her behalf. in a similar fashion, jon geetings, who purports to know about politics, wants percy dougherty to run for county executive. perhaps geetings can loan percy some youth.

  3. Like most liberals, Pawlowski is great at spending money.

  4. Mr.Molovinsky, Ms.Eichenwald certainly has the intelligence not to waste her time and money trying to end the Pawowski Juggernaut.I saw Mr. Pawlowski on The Mellisa Harris Perry show on M.S.N.B.C a few weeks ago and his agenda parallels the National Democratic philosophy.Mr Pawlowski will stay in Allentown till he has the age to collect his pension and move on.He knows the Wolves are at his door and eventually some Attorney General will investigate the fraud and embezzlement which is sure to occur with the N.I.Z. coffers.

  5. MM, the transgresiions of the mayor would even be a better title, selling the souls and backs of of allentowns childrens children¿ For a $500.00 campaign donation and a mancave remodel, he has sold a HOLE block to damnation and blight¿
Still til this day many suffer the wrath of this bully because they don't have the complextion connection or mental capacity¿

  6. bill@11:29 and redd at 12:47, pat brown apparently crafted a bill that has no limits on what the taxpayers of pennsylvania will contribute to a few allentown developers. the inclusion of the cigarette tax is a sin, but not a crime. although i occasionally host a comment suggesting impropriety, i believe that everything is legal under this bad deal for taxpayers outside of allentown. without the lawsuit by the surrounding municipalities, it would have even been slightly more absurd.

    1. The Brown Hole Law crafter also gave me some sort of merit award for something local officials made me do to my home, while allowing campaign donors/slumlordian floppers destroy historical integrity with our insurane monies¿ Covering one anothers asses for criminal activities under the colur of law is a normal act by the local politically corrupt machine that fuels these crimes against allentowns humanity¿

  7. Comrade Molovinsky,

I contend that the overwhelming majority of the American people are now 100% on board with "COLLECTIVE SACRIFICE".

    And, it's about time!

Because times change and so do economic as well as political philosophies.

So, in the spirit of genuine bipartisanship, I would like to sincerely encourage you, Comrade, to call the AHL's Phantoms and buy your season tickets to the magnificent and transformational Palace of Sport immediately ... I think the Phantoms are offering some super-duper specials that could really save you significant money, too.

Everyone likes saving money, right Comrade? ... So, c'mon. Get on board and you will have the time of your life.

    Shaibu!!!

    Sincerely,

    VIKTOR TIKHONOV

  8. VIKTOR,

I always enjoy your sarcasm. I'd enjoy it even more if the Allentown community, and our nation, really was not "circling the drain."

We are in serious trouble locally and nationally. Allentown and liberal Washington have much in common. Their motto . . .

"Live for TODAY, enjoy the spoils, and screw the future."

This is absolutely NO WAY the expense of the arena will ever be justified, let alone simply covered. But, who cares? General realization of that is 15-20 years out. No operatives today will remain in view.

    1. I liken that motto to conservatives who think the right to pollute and fleece our natural resources for the sole purpose of private wealth is a Constitutional right.
