The Fleck Machine

The Morning Call on it's blog, 610, announces that Cythnia Mota is running for City Council, and that her campaign will be managed by Mike Fleck. Fleck will also be managing Julio Guridy's fourth run, as well as Mayor for Life, Ed Pawlowski. As a local political junkie, I do not recall any city council members previously employing a paid manager. As incumbent Democrats one must question how hard they must even campaign. The last elected Republican was Dave Bausch in 1998. This blogger would not be surprised if Fleck's fees are being underwritten by Pawlowski.

  1. Mike you should scoop the local blogosphere and conduct an expansive interview w/ Mike Fleck and leave other bloggers fleckless.

  2. MM -

Are you certain about Dave Bausch? I seem to remember Tom Burke losing in the same election where Pawlowski was first elected (2005). That would mean that Burke was elected in 2001.

Maybe Burke was the last or your date for Bausch is off. Or maybe I'm the one remembering it wrong.

  3. Are life time Allentown residents allowed to be on City Council? And also, are individuals whose family been in the Lehigh Valley since before the American Revolution War allowed to be on City Council too?
In today's political atmosphere are they considered Allentonians?

  4. We, the people, still believe that native Allentonians have a right to serve on City boards, commissions, committees and Council.

I find the so-called Fleck team fascinating...

We, the people, still believe that our obligations as Americans are not just to ourselves, but to all posterity.... And those who have ready knowledge of the past and incite to the future sre the ones that should us ... Fad or token selections are never in order

  5. Wrong again MM... Heydt was last elected Republican. Oh he served 12 years... but I don't see you referencing him as mayor for life. Oh the irony.

  9. For my Palace of Sport ticket money,

Fleck will always be remembered as the guy who shouted down Mr. Molovinsky and Dr. Thode of Lehigh University during the NIZ Debate televised by Channel 69 using his ludicrous "Hysteria" tactic.

    GENUINE ALLENTOWN ICE HOCKEY FAN
