A Failure to Impress

I believe it's safe to say that the leaders of South America found President Obama unimpressive. Propelled to the Presidency on his speaking abilities, anointed with a Nobel Prize on pure speculation, he has failed to have any gift beyond the spoken word. It is articulate babble. In Colombia he blabbered that the cold war is over, yet defended the embargo against Cuba. His position against the legalization of drugs frustrated the Latin American leaders, overwhelmed by the illegal drug activities in their countries. His promotion of a trade program frustrated American labor leaders. His description of a month delay in talks with Iran as progress, frustrated Israel. The Secret Service indiscretion was not the biggest embarrassment on his trip.

  1. Mike,

Where is the effort to reduce the demand for drugs in this country?

  2. It is NOT the business of government to wage an eternal losing war over what we put in our bodies.
Our jails are FULL of non-violent people who are criminals only because they choose to use "illegal" drugs.
All the illegal drugs (herion, cocaine, & marijuana) combined do less physical damage and cause less death than alcohol or cigarettes.
Where is the effort to get
    government "out of our underpants"?

  3. Legally prescribed drugs have now, as of this year, become the biggest killers of all users.
Big pharma and the AMA are the new drug dealers to be very wary of.....

  4. Yawn.

    O'Bummer will be re-elected.

You, yourself, even pointed out that you will be shocked if 0-bama fails to receive at least 70% of one particular demographic.

There are other demographics totally desperate to re-elect the smartest and greatest President in the history of the United States.

The Main Stream Media would only be one.

The growing Welfare Army would be another.

Mitt Romney will be like shooting fish in a barrel. My 3-year-old niece already knows what to do ... she can enunciate the word, "Romneycare", clearly.

  5. Can we say buyers remorse?

Hope and change sounded good to voters unhappy with President Bush.

But, after nearly four years of bumbling the hope is for change in the White House.

Class warfare is not a platform for the future! OK the tax code has some long festering problems. But, no rational increase in taxes on any group is going the solve the run away entitlement spending.

The country isn't addicted to drugs it"s addicted to government freebies.

Some histotic figure said it best. Eventually the liberal socialist thinking politicians run out of other peoples money to spend.

  6. "The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money"

former British Prime Minister MARGARET THATCHER

...bet I won't find THIS quote in any textbooks over at William Allen High School today.

    I guess I should thank a pro-Union, Democrat-voting teacher.

  7. "I would prefer to bring them (Labour Party) down as soon as possible.

I think they've made the biggest financial mess that any government's ever made in this country for a very long time, and Socialist governments do traditionally make a financial mess.

They always run out of other people's money.

It's quite a characteristic of them. They then start to nationalize everything, and people just do not like more and more nationalization, and they're now trying to control everything by other means.

They're progressively reducing the choice available to ordinary people."

MARGARET THATCHER speaking to LLEW GARDNER for THAMES TELEVISION "This Week" program of February 6, 1976.

(three years BEFORE Thatcher became Prime Minister of Great Britain)

... bet I won't find THIS in a textbook at William Allen H.S., either.

  8. This is info I've collected over the weeks from various news sources and blogs + some of my own reading:

When Barack Obama took office, the U.S. national debt was 10.6 trillion dollars. Today, it is 15.6 trillion dollars and it is rising at the rate of about 150 million dollars an hour. During the Obama administration so far, the U.S. government has accumulated more debt than it did from 1776 to 1995. The United States now has a debt to GDP ratio of over 100 percent,

If our politicians voted to severely cut spending or to raise taxes dramatically at this point, our economy would suddenly readjust to a more realistic standard of living. But that would be extremely painful and most Americans voters would be absolutely furious. They would demand that someone "fix" the economy immediately. But the truth is that what we have been enjoying all these years has not been real. It has been bought with trillions of dollars stolen from future generations. But most of our politicians just want to keep the party rolling as long as humanly possible so that they can keep getting voted back into office.

With recovery in full swing and unemployment dropping to an Obama administration near record low of 8.2%, the US economy seems to be bouncing back stronger than ever. Were it not for people dropping out of the labor force, the unemployment rate would be well over 11%. Over the past several years people have dropped out of the labor force at an astounding, almost unbelievable rate, holding the unemployment rate artificially low.

In the last year, the civilian population rose by 3,604,000. Yet the labor force only rose by 1,315,000. Those not in the labor force rose by 2,289,000. The Civilian Labor Force fell by 164,000. Those “Not in Labor Force” increased by 310,000. If you are not in the labor force, you are not counted as unemployed.

In the last four years we’ve lost 10 million people out of the participation rate. Just to give you an idea of how many people that is, it would take the city of Dallas, Salt Lake, San Diego, Spokane, Roanoke and Cincinnati… the people living in those city limits. If you double that number that gives you the number of people that have left the participation rate that are no longer in the working pool.
