A Morning Call Letter

Don't Make Political Dissent Yet Another Victim by Michael Molovinsky

  1. I don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't stand up to hate groups and crazy people. People are saying the political dialogue in this country is approaching the same level as hate groups and crazy people. Many commentators on 24 hour news shows don't sound much different then the church that protests little girl's funerals. Take the camera away, and someone like Glenn Beck is just a crazy man writing conspiracy theories on a black board in his basement.

The answer is not fighting this vitriolic speech with more vitriol, but by calming down and thinking logically and rationally about issues, even when we disagree. You can't fight crazy with crazy.

  2. "Argue with your neighbor, get in their face!"

"They bring a knife, we bring a gun."

The hypocrisy was ridiculous a long time ago, now, it is completely out of control, Linas.

With the above quotes of our Smartest and Greatest President in the history of the United States in mind, would you not agree?

    Publius,

Exactly how "Presidential" would these well-known quotes be?

  4. I agree completely, MM, though there's a distinction between heated rhetoric--real disagreement expressed through words--and violent rhetoric. We should tone down the latter, even though it had nothing to do with Tucson.
