Pennsylvania as Whore

The Marcellus Shale gas deposits have turned Pennsylvania into a whore, and there is nothing pretty about it. Already two thousand wells have been dug, with thousands more being approved. The gas extraction method, hydraulic fracking, uses millions of gallons of water to fragment the shale, releasing the gas. The water is treated with lubricants and other chemicals to facilitate the process. The short and long term consequences to our water supply are being ignored to produce this mislabeled "clean energy." Governor Rendell, to the shame of his legacy, has justified this environmental rape in order to impose a state tax on the extracted gas. Although I'm not an environmentalist, it's apparent even to me that Pennsylvania's natural resources are being contaminated and compromised. Please use the following links for more information.

I absolutely agree MM.

I POSTED ON MY BLOG 5 times on these horrendous plans.

Interestingly each time I posted, oil companies from Texas starting coming to my site along with a couple of law firms who represent them. So I backed off doing anymore of them. I said nearly everything I wanted to say anyway.

NOT THAT THESE POSTS MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE!
Pa. smells $ $ $ $, just like it did with the casinos. When it comes to money, ecology goes out the window. Unless Pa. could get bigger environmental cardboard checks from the federal government then it can from the drillers, it's a big fat GO!

Since the time I made these posts Pa. lawmakers has now cleared the way for "eminent domain".

I further anticipate that the DRB will ultimately give the green light to drilling underneath the ground at the Lehigh River's headwaters.

"Eminent Domain"-- Means no matter what you, I or the people want...

Absolutely on target with this one. Then when the cup runs dry what is next?

Perhaps either renting or selling unemployment recipients off as chattel.

Shale will not help nor has gambling really. These are simply band-aids to the real issues.

No jobs, no community, high unemployment, poverty and continuing deterioration of the infrastructure and soul of the populous.

Out politicians think nothing has any consequences, only focus on the immediate return.

Fast Eddie R. is trying to balance his budget with a pipe dream. Kind of like his honor in Allentown.

YES. It is a total mistake.

Wrong!

Imagine a picture of a brutalized rape victim and a mug of the low down dog of a perpetrator.

This is what will really happen to PA.

.....tree-hugging liberal! Unbridled capitalism is what make America great. Asa Packer and Charles Schwab made the Lehigh Valley and didn't worry about the environment. The next thing you liberals will want is bike paths and government run nursing homes for the poor.
