Queen City Daily

QUEEN CITY DAILY IS A BLOG DEDICATED TO NEWS FROM THE CITY OF ALLENTOWN. WE'LL UPDATE EVERY WEEKDAY WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION FROM YOUR FRONT STOOP ALL THE WAY TO THE MAYOR'S OFFICE. FROM THE STAFF OF THE MORNING CALL*
There's one thing nobody can accuse the Queen City Daily of being, and that's a daily. Today's the eighth day without a new posting. Can't really blame the recent shake up at the paper, it's been more of a weekly since the get-go. Perhaps a new name is in order.

  1. I noticed similar inactivity over at the watchdog. You think they're replacing their own blogs with the Lehigh Valley Blogosphere? Does the inactivity on their own blogs correspond with the siphoning of the local blogs? Just asking.

  2. And Queen City stopped reporting on ZHB matters back in March or so. Does that correspond with the Autozone thing? I always found the ZHB report useful, then it disappeared

  3. nlv, i don't think so, they never were a daily. i do not share your opinion, and that of some others, that the morning call is using the valley blogosphere for free news or material. there's no shortage of letters to the editor, they could fill many pages every day. i believe blogger tuesday is an attempt to be more contemporary and inline with the new internet realities.

  4. We're trying, we're trying, we're trying. Things have been kind of hectic over here and we're still trying to figure out where blogging fits in with everything.

The zoning hearing board minutes were something our last city hall reporter did, and we all honestly mocked him for it (they weren't exactly the most compelling entries), but we'll mention it to the current city hall guy and see if it's something he can do...

  5. I'd rather see them report the local news. Then I could scrap my blog! I agree tho, the other coincidences are just smoke.

  6. nlv, you and ramblings are sort of newsy, but most of the other blogs, mine included, are more opinion, history, and offbeat. i did notice the easton express was looking for regional bloggers as junior reporters or such. although you may feel abandoned by the mc in northern lehigh, i don't think your blog was included for that region news.

Thats good. I did read that section of QCD. But wile youre you're at it, have your city hall reporter ask the administration why they think its proper to write letters to the ZHB concerning pending matters. That smacks of ex-parte communications. The ZHB is a quasi-judicial board. If the city feels a need to be involved, they should formally intervene rather than the behind the scenes letter junk. Can't cross-examine a letter. And once the letter is read, its out. Thats the story in a story.

  8. I honestly think some of the staff may still be in shock over there.

  9. There were never many comments actually left for QCD, so I guess it was hard for them to gauge if anyone was ever paying attention to them. I do read it from time to time.

  10. I never read that blog and never will. By the way, the new coloring book format of the paper is a real disgrace as well.
